Hi everyone now I am not sure which games you would like to put in an poll so there won't be one for this topic.

In your opinions which Sonic game is the single longest game of the series.

From what I've heard, it's either Colors (Amount of levels), Sonic 3 & Knuckles (Length of levels), Adventure DX or Heroes (Bonus missions), Sonic Advance 3 (Chaos Emerald collecting) Shadow the Hedgehog (Alternate endings) or Sonic '06 (Load times). Never played most of those though, so I wouldn't know. :P

Sonic 3 & Knuckles is two games together since they were originally going to be one big game.

Sonic Adventure has seven story lines.

Sonic Adventure 2  and 06 has three story lines.

Sonic Heroes has five story lines.

Shadow the Hedgehog has eleven story lines.

i'd say sonic heroes or maybe sonic 06 because it would take you months to beat because of all the glitches and insane difficulty

...and by 65 you mean 9, right? The longest is a toss up between Heroes and Adventure 2, depending on whether you're going with "last ending" completion or "all mission" completion.

If you include load times and restarts I'd expect '06 to be up there. :P But having played none of the titles I mentioned but 3 & Knuckles, I really have no true idea.

I did the maths, and Shadow's game has 326 different pathways to take through the levels. But then again, it doesn't really have that sort of replay value. Adventure 2 took me just under 77 hours to get all 180 emblems, and then there's also the HD versions of Unleashed with all the achievements/trophies, which include collecting all the medals and doing all of the hot dog missions. And then you can go through the levels with your own music in the background.

I spent over 200, just playing with Chao and exploring the levels and doing all kinds of crazy things.

Have you ever successfully beaten Metal Harbor with a final score or 100 without death? Probly not.

Well this also depends on what we're counting as "length." I mean if you just play Colors to go from beginning to end, then it's short but if you going for 100% completion to collect all the red coins and all, then it's much longer and so many games like 06 dragged out their length for the wrong reasons like time wasted wandering around hubs doing pointless missions to open the next door, load screens, the 360/PS3 Unleashed's coin collecting to open new stages. All too many games nowadays try to cheaply extend their length with fluff.

Last I checked, even retro games did the same. Banjo Kazooie and its sequel had lots of item hunting to continue the game, as did Diddy Kong Racing, Donkey Kong 64, and even Super Mario 64 did it, though to less of an extreme.

No I'm talking retro as in BEFORE the jump to 3D. Yeah after the jump to 3D was when games became obsesssed with collect-a-thons.

3-D games have been around since Zaxxon on the arcades, it's not really that modern. The NES, SNES and Genesis all had 3-D titles, and probably the Master System too. And those generations did have item hunting, from Dizzy's Adventure on the NES (Which was one long item hunting quest with a boss fight at the end) to Sonic 3-D Blast on the Genesis and Saturn.

Do you think it's bad because of controls or bad because Sonic's friends aren't in it? Just curious.

But back on topic, SR (which is actually somewhat liked here because it was the Sonic game that came out that didn't involve beastiality) is rather short, just cheaply extended it's length with side missions that mostly retreaded the same areas making you grab rings or what have you.

I never liked Secret Rings either.

The controls were awful, the missions were bland and most were hellish, and on-rails gameplay was very bothersome.

And yet it could easily be beaten in one day.

I dislike it because of Bad controls and extremely broken gameplay at a lot of points, along with many other reasons. secret rings was only made because sega wanted to release some sonic game close to the wii's release, and a port of sonic 06 to the wii would take too long

I have to agree on one thing: Sonic games nowadays you don't get all that much control over the action compared to some other games. Why give us even LESS by outright putting Sonic on auto-run? :?

I didn't mind the game but the way it control it took trial and error to a new level.

I'll take Unleashed, Colors, Adventure 2, Heroes... pretty much any not completely broken 3D Sonic game over that any day, thank you.

The missions I have to agree were pretty bland and run of the mill, anything not involving get to the end felt stupid to me.

I honestly tried playing it, and it's not ANYWHERE NEAR AS BAD as what GameInformer said it was, but it's also not all that great. Overall I think it was okay.

However, worst Sonic game ever? Far from it. FAR. FROM. IT.

Yes it can.

And it did.

Sonic Labyrinth was also terrible. I've played plenty of Sonic games. I honestly haven't beaten all the ones I played but I played Sonic 2006 for at least 3 or 4 hours on my friend's PS3, and I honestly wish I spent that 3 or 4 hours... not doing that.

Secret Rings I didn't really regret playing it, just I coulda had more fun with something else.

Yes. It can. Secret Rings was playable and, in many places, enjoyable. The only enjoyment I got from Sonic Next-Gen was making fun of it. Spinball is also pretty awful, as is 80% of the GameGear collection.

Yes. It can. Secret Rings was playable and, in many places, enjoyable. The only enjoyment I got from Sonic Next-Gen was making fun of it. Spinball is also pretty awful, as is 80% of the GameGear collection.

Yes I played Sonic 06 as well and where Secret Rings I can forgive as Sega rushing out a game and experimenting with the Wii's new control scheme, Sonic 06 is just an unfinished mess. Even if you can look past the the bland unpolished graphics, the idiotic beastality storyline, the annoying playable friends, and the tedious hub world fetch quests, it's just broken on a technical level. Load screens are EVERYWHERE, the camera is spazzy and controls are awful. There are high speed sections of Sonic's story that make Secret Rings look like mana from heaven. Imagine playing Secret Rings, trying to control it with your elbows, and making it where you can't stop period and every wall, rock and tree damages you and throw in some glitchy areas where Sonic falls through the ground to his death. Yes it is THAT bad and only the most mindlessly blindly devoted Sonic fans could find any enjoyment. Even Sega flat out said that they shoved the game out before it was properly tested or finished, just to get it out in time for the PS3 launch so if Sega thought this game was s$#@ who are we to argue?

I found the Genesis Spinball, adequate at best but the Game Gear version is the worst version of anything. Avoid it at all costs.

Seriously though, if you're new here, check out our review archive. It knows all...except for Sonicphc's Spinball review.

What about the Black Knight review? Yes another that caused quite a stir. :P And then there was Sonic Battle, and the lack of a review on Sonic 1... Yes, I am aware that no one's able to say everyone's opinion because no two people really have the same opinions. But it's still worth saying that just because one member os Sonicspot liked/disliked a Sonic game doesn't mean you'll necessarily agree.

I stand by my Black Knight review. I got some enjoyment out of that game, though nothing on the level Colors has. Then again, nothing's done quite like Colors in a while. I also stand by the Battle review. The game's very simplistic... almost painfully so, and the 2D sprites don't work well in the 3D levels. The lack of review on Sonic 1 is intentional. If you rate the original, it acts as a barometer for all reviews that everyone's going to go to. "YOU THINK IT'S THAT MUCH BETTER/WORSE THAN THE ORIGINAL?" It's best to leave the original alone.

Try homing attacking objects in the hubworld. Have fun not having control of Sonic as he slides in a glitchy way for several seconds.

[QUOTE="TAMKFan"]

[QUOTE="SuperfastSonic"]Sonic Heroes, since it has four main storylines, and the Choatix team's "find the items" stages take forever to finish.SuperfastSonic

I never even beaten the "real" final boss in that game, due to those really hard special stages.

You mean "grab the emerald"? I didn;t find those a bit hard.

The easiest way to beat them was with Team Rose, cause of their ridiculousy short stages, and use Big, since he has better control and a better range (he is fat). Then just hold boost (I before just mashed the boost button, since I didn't know you could hold it instead).

I used that method but once I am in the special stage I use Amy.
