Hey I grew up on Sonic and the older games which were much better and I never heard of Eggman until Sonic Adventure and even then I didn't like calling him that.

heh, I just read this entire thread. The original post was inspired by the announcement of new super mario bros. wii (which looks awesome btw) and the suggestion to do that with sonic.

that's kinda....happening...

I'd love it if it were spectacular. I'd have a ball with it. But I wouldn't care if it wasn't. I wouldn't be disappointed because I'm detached from the whole thing. Just kinda taking things as they come.

Chocolate is just saying we need the sonic without the gimmicks we know and love :roll:. what we need is pure sidescrolling, unadulterated, speedy, supercool, Mega-Drive era, Sonic. (Plus those cool (but essential) ideas Kbaily said, she basically read my mind.)

As for cutscenes, keep em short, textless, voiceless, speechless. ;)

I say just ditch the cutscenes and just keep it to the game manual for the story.

The main problems have been cut scenes and annoying camera,story and also gimmicks and boring playable friends. If you take out some of the problems it might end up being good. Now Project Needlemouse if indeed is 2D shouldn't worry about a camera. It would just need to not have those other problems before it.

At least with Black Knight they got the idea to make playable friends OPTIONAL. Key word here. I hate being forced to play as every freaking character just to finish the game. They can have Tails, Knuckles, etc. playable, but let the players choose which character to play as that 's how you please old and new school fans at the same time.

Just do what they did in Sonic 3 and Knuckles and have them play the same expect have abilities that are unique to each character.
