My SNES is semi-functional, and I don't know what the problem is.

So, back in 2007, I found to my dismay that my SNES games (with one exception I've found) would no longer play in my console. I have been using an FC Twin ever since, but if possible, I'd like to repair it.

Here's the odd thing. I have an adapter called the Super 8, which allows me to play NES games on the SNES. It still functions just fine, and I can play NES games to my heart's content. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? In the meantime, I'm going to try my entire SNES library (something I probably should've tried before now) and see how the games react. All I can say right now is that Drakkhen will play, and Yoshi's Island makes the start-up noise and the screen turns green.

[EDIT]

Alright, here's a full list of games that will work on my SNES

Tetris Attack
Super Mario Kart
Final Fantasy IV
Super Mario All-Stars
Inindo: Way of the Ninja
Lufia and the Fortress of Doom
Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals
Tetris 2
Ken Griffey Jr Major League Baseball
Ken Griffey Jr's Winning Run
Wizardry V
Drakkhen
Super Adventure Island II
Super Scope 6
Super Mario World
Donkey Kong Country II
Super Metroid

Here is the complete list of games that won't function on the SNES but will work on the FC Twin

Breath of Fire
Breath of Fire II
Earthbound
Yoshi's Island
Mario Paint
Might and Magic III
Secret of Mana
Final Fantasy VI
Illusion of Gaia
Chrono Trigger
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Super Game Boy
Super Conflict
Donkey Kong Country
Super Castlevania IV
Mega Man X

I don't know if this information will help or not, but now you know what I do.

Mind you, this has become a bit of a moot point, as I just discovered that none of my controllers will work on my SNES.

@xantufrog: Fair enough. This is my first time in these forums, and I don't really know my way around. I apologize for any inconvenience.

@dragonraiderx9: my man you worry too much, other than having a sentimental attachment there's no reason for you to keep that console, trash it and get another one, it's not like the are worth hundreds of dollars.

@suicidesn0wman: that makes me sad that it is, apparently, true. This place was hoppin' for a brief while...

@xantufrog: I had a problem like this with my Donkey Kong Country game a few years ago. What I did was clean the connector in the SNES with a q-tip and some isopropyl alcohol. That worked for a while, but I eventually ended up buying a replacement after the system stopped playing any game altogether.

Open up the console (lots of YouTube how to videos), clean the connectors that the games plug into, and check all the resistors etc on the board to see if any are loose/broken. Also clean the games connectors, they can get dirty over time.

NES games still work on your SNES via the adapter because the SNES is only supplying power. The adapter itself is a clone system hence why the adapter has an AV out.

Reason why your SNES isn't working with SNES games is usually dirty connector and dirty games. If cleaning doesn't help then you might have bad capacitors.
