Religious people aren't rational, the two ideas are antonyms.

Separation of church and state is the very reason why he is able to have a cabinet bible teacher at his own discretion.

If that is true, is because of Trump.

Ralph Drollinger is the guy who called on Trump to turn the country into a benevolent dictatorship. Now he's in the cabinet.

Anyone who believes there is an unseen, unheard, and omnipotent being who can tell you what thoughts are going on in my head is not rational. That's pretty much the opposite of rational, isn't it?

I'm not generalizing, I'm being quite specific. The idea of an omnipotent being is itself irrational, and it just goes downward from there.

Because those views influence people with power. See: The continued right-wing push to de-legitimize homosexuality, science, secularism and education.

They VOTE that way, though.

I know no safe depositary of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power. -Thomas Jefferson

They're desperate. They've pretty much lost the social war and their voters trend older and are rapidly dying off. They're looking for any edge they can get, even if that means denying people the right or means to vote or sliding something like abortion restrictions into unrelated emergency response.

I don't have too much against religious people but we kinda have scientifically figured out why humans believe in god through both anthropology and neuroscience. I understand why they believe and how it can help them in their lives but due to that research it's pretty much confirmed fictional in terms of a literal and objective stand point. Spiritually it's another story I guess.

Oh no........... The White House has a bible teacher considering how religious Pence is and how much Trump knows it image-wise will convey......

That is the straw that broke the famous camels back, we need to impeach now and have Trump removed .... (m.s.u)

American Taliban hard at work, as usual.

I don't outright object to religion, but when it's used like this, I have a serious problem with it.

Keep it in your homes and your churches; leave it out of schools and government.

@thegreatchomp: Because if a Jesus loving idiot believes that god brought about a virus, what agency do you believe they believe humans have in stopping it? Or worse, would they even want to stop it due to it being gods will?

Think. Stop asking stupid questions and think critically.

Not necessarily. I don't think Trump believes in much of anything. He just says and does whatever he thinks will get himself points with his base at that particular time.

This person is NOT in Trump's cabinet. He's a pastor that leads a weekly bible study that some of the cabinet members choose to attend.

No where in the article does it say this guy sits in on cabinet meetings, or makes any policy.

This thread is one big violation of the ToU. The title is misleading at best. And numerous posts violate the ToU, which forbids "Offensive stereotypes/generalizations about religious groups."

But we all know 3 things:

1. The ToU are arbitrarily enforced, depending on who is doing the violating

2. You will seize any opportunity, no matter how thinly based, to vent your hatred for Trump and Trump supporters

3. Donald Trump IS your president.

1. I didn't make the thread. Please keep your constant complaining and pouting to a Moderator.

2. Trump was mentioned in both your post and the post you quoted. I was just letting you know even if this pastor was not in Trump's cabinet that Trump himself has said nuttier stuff. Just a funny factoid.

3. Not sure what that random fact has to do with anything. So I guess I get to point out random facts? Red States and counties have a much lower HDI than Blue ones, GOP policy is trash. Red voters have a lower education than Blue ones, probably why they vote against their self interests for a lower HDI all the time.
