I'm creating this thread as a reminder to vote and a place to discuss your voting actions/selections. I was able to vote this morning via early voting in my state of Illinois, and I voted for roughly 50% Democrats, 45% Republicans, and 5% Libertarians*.

*I live in a rural area, so about half the candidates were Republicans running unopposed, with 1 Libertarian candidate sneaking into one of those races.

It's been really fast and easy every time I've voted early, I strongly recommend everyone who can to do so.

@Maroxad: Was the result of the election acceptable? A quick perusal of news sites suggests that a right wing block won but has had trouble forming a coalition from that outcome?

I dont like the results but, that is democracy. You win some, you lose some.

As much as I wish people would vote to adapt to the future, rather than trying to keep a dying past alive. I am pretty sure that after 4 years of mediocre governance, people will come to their senses again. Seems to be a trend in populist led countries, turns out that their simple solutions to complex problems never bodes well. Sweden may have to learn this lesson too.

While the disappointment was immesurable, there were at least no coup attempts. Unlike what we saw with Bolsonaro's fanbase in Brazil.

Our government has been in disarray since the Sweden Democrats have gained prominence. They are not campaigning in good faith, often looking for ways to bend the rules of our democracy. Now they got a taste of their own medicine and despite them leading the right wing block, they did not get the prime minister spot.

With Iran and Saudi Arabia, potentially going to war soon. I wonder how the right wing's supply side, stance on energy will turn out. I get all my energy from renewables, and I am staunchly anti-car, so I wont be as badly affected as most.

But I fear for my friends. Who do not have my cold tolerance (if I was a pokemon, I would be an Ice Type).

I'm gonna vote on Tuesday. The polling location is right across the street from my house. I am fortunate enough to live in an area with plenty of polling locations so there is usually not a big line. I come prepared and it typically takes about 10-15min to get through.

I even talked the owners where I work into making it a company holiday with PTO (of course, regardless of whether you vote or not).

I voted on October 26th in person at a library place close to my work. I mostly voted Democrat, but also for a few independents running for school board.

Voting on Tuesday in VA. I live in the city currently so it's probably pointless. But I am voting against Donald McEachin (D) who running as the incumbent for a 4th consecutive term.. for Leon Benjamin (R).

Yeah, still need to fill out the ballot to drop it off. It's been on my to-do list.

Definitely will be voting for Brian Dahle over Gavin, but not like it'll matter. lol

Uh, here's an idea, don't be a pos by contributing to the crumbling of democracy and help keep polling places peaceful by being peaceful yourself without vague (intentional or otherwise) threats of violence towards people.

I already did my early voting last week in Atlanta GA and I'm confident that Warnock will remine State Senate if all goes well of course. Stacey Abram, not so much.

Voting Blue across the board in Northampton, PA area.

Remember, if you’re an American and vote Republican, you’re voting against democracy, the Constitution, and for the enabling of election denialism.

Hooray for absolutes.

@MirkoS77: It’s absolutely true that Dems love anti-White legislation. Want more White guilt narratives and Affirmative Action-like policies that put Whites last because of their heritage? Vote Dems.

Not something I necessarily disagree with to a degree, but regardless, something that doesn't negate my point about Republicans.

Democrats have their faults, but at this point, the Republican party has become an existential threat to democracy and its norms, and it doesn't even attempt to hide it.

Went to where I usually vote, and I'm apparently in a different precinct now, same address. Then they sent me to the wrong place, but the wrong place sent me to the right place.

Voted down a state constitutional amendment to strip even more power from Unions, voted to remove using convicts as slave labor from the state constitution, and also for an amendment clarifying what happens to the position of certain members of government should they become incapacitated.

Other than that, the Dem/independent ticket all the way down. The one local office that had a Republican running unopposed I just wrote in Elvis.
