I find it hilarious a lot of people are saying the party is divided, when in reality it isn't. Remember 2016, when Trump was creating the so called "division" in the Republican Party where everyone believed he was a joke and the establishment candidates hated him? It created this so called fracture between conservatives and trumpets/far-right wing.

But then Trump gets the nomination and what happens? Unity, because they have one common cause. Win the White House and beat Hillary Clinton.

I'm looking at the Democratic Party in the same way. People are saying that it's divided because of some are social democrats and other moderates, when in reality there is very little dividing most candidates. Almost all running for president support medicare for all, half of them free education, all pro-choice... so I really don't understand where this division is coming from.

Of course, we'll see infighting, it's a democracy. People may disagrees on certain policies. But the reality is that the democrats will rally for one common cause regardless, to beat Trump. It's not like we have a really bad candidate like Hillary.

I might not love Biden, but at least he's likable.

Trump won because of Russian interference.

Gop United behind him because they are afraid to lose money and power.

Democratic party has a fundamental divide. It's a generational thing.

That is division. It may be a natural (and even healthy) part of the system, but it's still a division that's best acknowledged

You honestly, think that was the only reason Trump won? Than you haven't studied well the election. I'm a democrat, that was a Bernie supporter and what the DNC did to Bernie was an abomination - so I decided to vote for a third party candidate. I have tons of friends that did the same. There are multiple reasons why Hilary lost, not just Russian interference.

Also, what divide is there in the Democratic Party vs. The Republican Party in 2016?

It's not as bad as republicans in 2016. Also, what parts are divisive? Again, I'm trying to understand what policies people are saying are dividing the party. In 2008, the party was also super divided. Obama was the candidate of change, including talking about the affordable care act, Clinton was heavily against that. Clinton and Obama were dividing the party between moderates and liberals. Democrats still won, this is nothing new.

I just need for people to tell me exactly policies are so divisive that democrats will not unite come the general election, because healthcare, lgbtt rights, foreign policy, abortion and education are in some policies accepted by almost every candidate.

@migina: There's always division which, as you pointed out, is natural. It also always carries with it a risk/degree of loss of voters later that the winning candidate must work to mend. It's not new or unique, but the mending work will need to occur. Pretending that it isn't there won't help anyone.

Huh? Do you know what divided means? Of course it is. You don’t even have a leader yet lol. If you’re a Biden guy, you’re divided against Bernie supporters. You’re also for less socialism. Divided again.

So yes, Democrats are the very definition of ‘divided’, presently.

I think what you said is exactly what I stated. The mending will occur once we have a candidate on the general election. It's not like the policies are so divided that there's no way to unite the party. Again, if we go policy wise most democratic candidates disagree about miniscule things. For example all democratic candidates agree we have to do something about climate change, but how we do it - that's what makes them different. I just want someone to point to me what policy is causing a massive division in the party, because I don't see many.

You're a Trumpist, so shut it and get out of my thread.

Sorry, that's not how things work around here.

Of course not. Won't be the first time a conservative commented on something he/she didn't understand.

Exactly. I wouldn't comment on a thread about "Is the Republican Party divided" because of my bias towards liberalism. It's not my area.

Don't you guys hate when woman are shown in positions of powers, want only white male characters in video games, absolutely loathe gay scenes in video games like The Last of Us 2, let's not forget a woman's right to do what she wants with her body... if anything you're the party that takes civil liberties away from what's supposed the land of the free. Don't talk to me about censorship. Also, I'm not clicking on your right-wing link. Ewww.

Oh and yes. If your party is spewing out like the racist south in 1846, sexists, homophobic, xenophobic, anti-semitic content - we will censor it. And happily.

I'm talking about him saying shut it and get out of his thread, not the topic itself. Last time I checked nobody that posts here owns the thread and can order people to not post in it.

Telling users to shut up and leave isn't how we do it here.
