Poll President Trump signs $1.3 trillion spending bill (16 votes)

He should have done it, political suicide not to 50%
He could have kept fighting, but good desicion 0%
I'm not sure how i feel about this 19%
Not happy about this 19%
He should have vetoed it! 13%

I believe although Trump is a joke, not signing this bipartisan bill would have completely destroyed his presidency.

Republicans would have been universally angry, democrats would have been okay shutting down the government and blaming Trump.

Either way, Democrats win here. In a way, it's amazing the political move. They basically don't control the house or senate, and yet got a fantastic deal - flawed as it was.

Be nice to have a balanced budget instead of putting ourselves more in China's debt.

There are maybe five or six people in the entire house who actually care about a balanced budget. Definitely no one in the white house cares.

Partisan politics is nothing but rhetoric. It's just a song and dance to promote the idea that democratic decisions are being made and that there are meaningful discussions being had when in reality the country is being run by globalists.

@Johnny-n-Roger: It's not just the politicians, but voters too. Republican voters will say they are voting for a politician because of spending cuts, but they're really doing it because of tax cuts. They really don't care where the money comes from.

Why? The ones deciding the budget will never face the consequences for it.

So are you really claiming that Obama did not add 9.3 trillion to the debt during his presidency?

More than 2 Bush, Reagan, and Clinton combined.

And here I thought you claimed to be an economist.

Is it because folks have to fall asleep in civics class to blame the president for the deficit?

@kittennose: That's an oversimplification of a number of different civics lessons. In this case, our headline can simply be the Carville quote (roughly paraphrased), "It's the economy, stupid."

Of course, the devil is in the details, which I've also discussed with him.

Ah, double standard. Okay carry on.

there is nothing wrong with a double standard frankly.

sure it might be better without a double standard but in the relam of most things important its not the big of a deal

So I see what you are doing here, you are trying to pull a fast one and try to dismiss facts.

But I have to admit it´s a good try

@kittennose: Not a double standard, different circumstances. That's kind important (ok, not kind of important - crucially important) in economics and, more specifically in this case, their effect on the budget.

@kittennose: Except when it's not :-)

I've stated both criticism of Obama and praise for Bush (and vice versa, for different actions) on this very topic.

Well taxing less leads to more revenue that you can spend...I heard that somewhere.

Always happy to see politicians burn, but hypocrisy and dishonesty is also a major factor.

A fancy napkin! One that was used to wipe off excess caviar from a baron's mouth none the less.
