Pie in the sky. The United States will NEVER have healthcare for everyone. It isn't because we are unjust, it's because we can't afford it. Democratic socialists love to use the Nordic countries as the poster child for socialized medicine but there is one major problem with that: in the Nordic countries, everyone pays, not just the rich. We are talking about astronomically high tax rates for the poor and the middle class.

Not all employers can afford health care. Why must an employer cover it? Why can't the government do it as is done in other countries? Seems to work for them.

What is the government supposed to do?

Well, the way how American Democratic Socialists are spinning it is that they are just going to tax the rich. Unfortunately, this will not generate enough revenue. How it works in the Nordic countries is that they tax everyone at astronomically high tax rates, even the poor and middle class. People in America will never vote for this.

Canada, you mean the single payer system that costs proportionately far less than the US, is accessible by all, and has better outcomes on pretty much all indicators? Or you could choose an even better one like France.

And who is going to pay? The US pays proportionately more than anyone, so perhaps start with recognizing that whomever is going to pay is going to pay less.

And the answer in any and all systems is the same: "we the people" because the people pay for everything and the only question or difference in any system is how the cost is apportioned and recovered.

A 'single payer' system is a bit of a misnomer because they are funded by taxation, but they have the benefits of universal coverage/accessibility and lower cost/better system efficiency. Their only comparative downside is convenience/speed of access for non-emergencies. From a societal point of view it is a far better trade to bear some degree of greater inconvenience vs higher costs and worse outcomes.

Fix our reputation? What does that even mean? Regardless, all of our troops should be out of the middle east and we should be out of the business of nation-building.

Common sense? How much common sense was there in the last administration? We have the data on ACA and it was a disaster. Obama doubled down on Bush's wars and he caused even more issues (he bombed Libya, Yemen, Somalia, and Pakistan).

Again, why are we comparing apples to oranges? There are 38 million people in all of Canada- there are 328 million people in the US.

Another thing that you are failing to acknowledge is that even if we taxed everyone at 50% percent, we still could not afford this because we are in a deficit. I really don't understand why Democrats and my fellow Republicans don't realize that you can't spend money that you don't have.

Outcome basis comparison: US is approx. 2.5 times worse off than Canada based upon Covid deaths
