Not by draft dodging pansies like Trump.

And a huge help from the French.
What a disgusting waste of money. Here’s a crazy idea, how about using that money to actual help veterans and maybe those first responders of 9/11.
I’m a regular Fox News watcher and if it wasn’t for them constantly trashing msnbc, I wouldn’t know they existed lol.
Fox News needs a villain in order to keep their viewers on the channel, so they tend to use pretty much any other news source as one.
What a time to be alive when folks would rather honor fictional Hollywood characters.
The actors that played those fictional Hollywood characters told us how much they hate the president, so they are obviously going to cheer them on. The real military heroes aren’t criticizing the president (although part of the reason is because the officers legally can’t per UCMJ), so they are unworthy of praise unless they become a critic after they get out like John McCain or Tammy Duckworth. Dan Crenshaw frequently praises Trump so he gets mocked and Tulsi Gabbard (who is still in the Hawaii Army National Guard) gets called a DINO because she doesn’t hate Trump enough even though she called Trump a female dog for Saudi Arabia in a tweet.
Speaking of Senator McCain, many of the people praising him were calling him a senile racist when he was running against President Obama in 2008 and were saying that his time as a POW was a liability for his ability to lead. There is no excuse to mock his service whether it was Trump mocking him for being captured or Democrats wanting him to lose to Obama, but liberals praising him today because he mocked Trump when they were bashing him over ten years ago look like hypocrites.
Hmm, what are you trying to say here? that you hate America and have a problem with honouring the country with a parade that also honours the troops you know the men and women who actually fight for your rights.
Dictators have "celebration parades" featuring flexing of military might. It's not normal for a democratic leader to (try to) intimidate the citizenry on the day of celebration of their independence.
If Trump wins the 2020 election, I'm sure he'll get people to start calling him "Dear Leader".

So what do you call countries like Canada, France, Australia and New Zealand?

Parades to honour the troops or honour the country is not uncommon and while there is a difference in the way Russia, China and NK and other dictators do it, there is nothing wrong with a parade.

Not sure how celebrating the military forces that helped free the country from British rule is intimidating to the citizens unless you’re talking about the anti-military folks that would be against the military no matter what.
Besides, Donald Trump wasn’t the first POTUS to display the military in a parade and he is unlikely to be the last. JFK (a Democrat) did it too with missiles and Dwight D. Eisenhower did as well.
Celebrate the military and our country..and it’s about ego.
Of course it's about Trump. It's always about Trump. He's a narcissist and egomaniac and even the most ardent of his supporters don't deny that. He's always bragging about how superior he is, about how he's the best, and that whatever he does and touches is the greatest there ever was. He doesn't even try to hide it. He's always a factor, if not the center consideration, in everything he does. Do you deny that?
Well, I guess they're trying to learn from their lessons, but we all know they will talk endlessly about the guy.

You make this about Trump no one else. Most regular normal Americans will watch the parade and watch the troops for what it is, an honour to them not some knob in the Whitehouse no matter who that may be.
It´s almost as insane as the far-left nuts who burned the flag in front of the White House during the celebration... if people hate the country so much go live somewhere else.
Watched trumps speech this morning, he did a damn good job loved it. Truly a celebration of great americans. Love seeing some patriotism in the white house ? ??.
Yeah those airplanes the colonists shot down were a threat......
@LJS9502_basic: it was an hour long speech and I love seeing all the people on the left freaking out over the airport word thing! It will only make thier pettiness more noticible.
I loved the message and the respect shown to those who serve the nation. Great speech.
Haters will focus on what they want, that is to be expected

They don't hate the country, they hate the president, which you and other right-wingers demonstrated - within YOUR right (just like these protesters against Trump) - against Obama. And flag burning is seen as a right to protest in this country.

If they hate the president, then why not burn a picture of the president?
The flag is not nor will it ever be the President, it represents America.
But don´t worry i know we will never agree on anything in this matter, so let´s agree to disagree and you can go back to flag-burning.
@LJS9502_basic: hate to break it to you bud but ive never been anywhere but America lol love my country
Then you wouldn't want an uneducated president that lied to get out of military service and tramples or tries to trample on the constitution. That's not a patriot.
I don't think many people watched it or listened. The constant drama on the news gets tiring. Many people just ignored it and want to choose a different president without the drama. Trump is always bickering about something. "Get me my McDonald's, you goof!"
@Jacanuk:
Just and FYI but the proper procedure for destroying flags is...……...burning them.
Okay...
According to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the first thing you should do is properly fold your flag. If you’re not sure how to fold a flag, you can get step by step directions here. Once you’ve properly folded your flag, make a fire that’s big enough to ensure that your flag will completely burn. When your fire is ready, respectfully place your folded flag on top of it. If you want, you can have a moment of silence or say the Pledge of Allegiance. After the flag has completely burned, the fire needs to be safely and completely extinguished. Collect the ashes and then bury them.
Is that what happened in front of the White House, a few patriots were properly disposing of an unserviceable flag? Or was it the more likely scenario that a few people that hate Trump were trying to hurt his feelings by burning a flag in front of him on Independence Day?
If the flag is so bad, why didn’t the protesters burn an effigy of Trump instead of using the same flag that Obama stood in front of during his inauguration? By the way, what’s that I see, the 13-star flag that Colin Kaepernick claims is racist being used by our first minority president?
@ad1x2: Ah so now you want to remove the Free Speech part of the Constitution. Republicans smh………...
@ad1x2: Ah so now you want to remove the Free Speech part of the Constitution. Republicans smh………...
Nope, I’m calling out your comment about proper disposal of the flag, which was obviously not what they were doing.
I don’t know the proper way to dispose of an LGBTQ flag that is no longer serviceable, but for the sake of argument let’s say it is by burning as well. If some guys that are obviously not friendly to the LGBTQ cause showed up to a pride parade and burned the LGBTQ flag, you would laugh out of your seat if someone responded to that by saying “well, maybe they’re just retiring it.”
If they want to burn pictures or effigies of Trump to show their hatred, or even if they want to burn MAGA hats or turn them into red KKK hoods like that one woman did, then all power to them. Burning an American flag doesn’t just target Trump, it targets all patriots even the ones that hate Trump but love the flag. But you are right, it is their First Amendment right to burn it in protest.

No trump wants to make it illegal to burn a flag. I discussed how that is the proper way to dispose of the flag. Everything else you are complaining about is answered by the Free Speech Amendment. And as a Vet I believe the freedom is more important than some one getting their feelings hurt. You do take an oath to uphold the Constitution on entry to service. Or did you forget that?

Holy cow a bunch of Left wing nonsense.
Democracy elected this president so you may not like it but not having a major case of TDS, is not being "none-patriotic"

We don't have a true democracy in the US. Also this has nothing to do with the election but his performance.

I am aware of the fact that he wants to pass an amendment banning desecration of the flag (he said burning, but he probably meant it as in regards to burning it in protest instead of retirement and if not his staff needs to educate him on the difference) and I disagree with it 100% on the grounds of free speech. That isn’t what I am talking about, I am talking about you bringing up the proper way to dispose of a flag in defense of the people burning a flag in front of the White House.
If their goal was to properly dispose of a retired flag, they probably would have done like most patriots do and either take it to the VFW, or burn it themselves in their backyard. Instead, they bought it to the White House on Independence Day in hopes of being able to burn it in view of Trump.
Just be honest and say they are exercising their right to burn the flag in an attempt to trigger the president. Don’t make up some outrageous excuse claiming that they may have been trying to retire a worn out flag while conveniently in front of the White House.
@ad1x2: No I was pointing out the irony of whining about burning a flag when that is the accepted disposal method. You can continue to be pedantic.

America has a representative democracy and yes that is a "true democracy"
But do elaborate on what in your mind is a true democracy
Also removing the right to burn flags is not "removing the 1st amendment" but I am not for banning that right, I am exercising my right to say my opinion about these snowflakes who think the world revolves around them and their opinion, you know as a true fascist would think..
@ad1x2: No I was pointing out the irony of whining about burning a flag when that is the accepted disposal method. You can continue to be pedantic.
1. The flag should be folded in its customary manner.
2. It is important that the fire be fairly large and of sufficient intensity to ensure complete burning of the flag.
3. Place the flag on the fire.
4. The individual(s) can come to attention, salute the flag, recite the Pledge of Allegiance and have a brief period of silent reflection.
5. After the flag is completely consumed, the fire should then be safely extinguished and the ashes buried.
6. Please make sure you are conforming to local/state fire codes or ordinances.
If the people burning the flag in front of the White House didn’t do any of those things and just threw it to the ground and set it on fire, then they were not trying to retire it. So your attempt to point out irony fails in this situation because they were doing no such thing. There is no harm admitting that they were only burning it in an attempt to trigger Trump and his supporters in the area instead of trying to bring up proper disposal of a flag.

Stating fact isn't insane, denying it in the face of all evidence is. That many Americans will watch the parade and troops for what it represents doesn't suddenly negate the impetus within Trump that the manner of the event and his role in it has been driven by some degree of self-interest. People are simply ignoring him to focus on what truly matters. Would you, from all you've seen, make the argument that Trump isn't an egomaniac and that he makes everything about himself? Remove yourself from your partisanship and you can easily see that he does.
I'll not claim that the 4th celebration is ALL about Trump, but the flashy, extravagant manner in which he does it screams Trump in every possible way. A showman, a braggart, a "leader", a wanna be.

It´s not a fact, it´s your opinion and if everyone stopped paying attention to Trump and celebrate the 4th like normal and look at this parade as an honour to the troops who also cares what Trump may think in his head. It´s like a guy inviting everyone to his party and no one shows so he goes to a public place and sit and pretends that everyone is there for him.
And from all, I have seen? I do honestly not care about Trump that much so that I care if he is an egocentric psychopath, we are less than 6 months away from the next election and Trump most likely be voted out, so I pay more attention to that and what policies my local legislature is making and what insanities they are doing in the house
I think this whole 4th of july parade thing was kind of silly. I'd rather see us spend money on paying down the deficit for example. But honestly, CNN's coverage makes this sound like a national crisis. I miss when they used to be a decent news site. Now they're just crap. A shame. They've joined Fox news and MSNBC as political activists and less news sites.
@Jacanuk: well, you're more optimistic than I am. Trump's going to be re-elected.
His re-election means the death of this country
@Jacanuk: well, you're more optimistic than I am. Trump's going to be re-elected.
Trump is not going to be re-elected
Or more accurate it will all come down to the democratic candidate if anyone but Biden gets picked then Trump may have a very good chance.
