After the election, do you expect Trump to stay in the spotlight?

Despite what happened in 2016 I think it’s safe to say Trump is done for this time. He’s down too big and he just has nothing going for him.

I wonder what will happen after the election. Do you think the anti-Trump media will keep hammering Trump, or largely just ignore him? What about the pro-Trump media? Do you think Trump will fight to try and stay relevant, or be happy with a more relaxed life style again? Will the Republicans try to distance themselves from Trump and try to coalesce around a new leader?

My guess is that Trump will fight to stay in the spotlight, because that’s just who he is. Fox and the republicans will try to tone him down so they can move on. Other media and the Democrats will try to bring him up as much as possible to hurt the republicans.

Trump and the Democrats will work in tandem to keep him relevant and therefor he will be.

He will be a former president.

His cultists will still be really loyal to him. Not to mention, he will be questioning the legitimacy of the election for the next 4 years until he starts running again.

Another thing that could happen is that Republicans will come to accept that he was an absolutely terrible president (remember hindsight is 20/20), and then hype up the new far-right populist.

Do prison yards have spotlights like in the movies? If so yes.

I don't think he will ever run again his health is shot Trump is deteriorating fast all his financial issues are going to mess him up even more. He definitely is going to cry alot if he loses and wouldn't shut up for months but eventually his cult will slowly leave him and find a new leader and Trump will slowly fade away like a bad nightmare.

@warmblur: He will try to run again, dont think he will get very far though. The guy is a narcissist, and has repeatedly been shown to ignore reality.

I have dealt with people like that. They don't care, they substitute reality with their narrative, one which must dogmatically never be challenged. When their worldview is challenged, they accuse you of not "feeling" enough.

He'll try to stay relevant by creating drama since the only thing he lives for is to stroke his ego.

Depends on what the media wants. They essentially made him the go to pick in the republican primary when they doted on him.

Yeah he will still direct a big portion of the party through twitter. I don’t see anyone being able to take over that wing of the party?

I agree with Warmblur, I don’t think he’ll run again? Perhaps one of his kids?

The traditional republicans will try to take back control of the party. They already thought he was terrible in 2016 lol. It’s gonna be a tough fight.

Yeah I think it’s over. He‘s losing big in the polls. I know they were inaccurate in 2016, but not by this much. Pollsters have also had the chance to recalibrate.

I think that assuming he's going to lose might ensure he wins. Let's entertain these hypotheticals ONLY in the event he actually loses.

It'll be hard for Trump not to stay in the spotlight for the next four years when he's still president. Joe's most recent online rally could only get abouy 77,000 viewers, Trumps got over 2 million for his Minnesota rally before Corona. Yeah, Joe's not winning shit.

abso-freaking-lutely.

He was president and he is never going to live that down, for better or worse.

What's the legality on using the office/title of president after your tenure? I'm expecting Trump to make some product or building and give it his own "presidential seal of approval" or some nonsense like that. Or maybe make a coffee brand and call it "President's Reserve" or whatever.

He’ll probably go on holding rallies to satiate his pathetic, endless need for adulation. The presidency has given him a taste for the cheering masses that he’ll need to find a new way to maintain. Narcissists are like addicts...always chasing that high. His entire existence depends on the approval of others, and he will seek out any way to attain it.

Yeah, I predict a post presidency victory tour, where he rides around and holds rallies bragging about his achievements and how he’s not only the best president in American history, but the best leader the planet has ever witnessed. It’s so perfectly Trump, and I would be genuinely surprised if he didn’t do this.

If Biden wins, Trump will remain in the spotlight because the federal government, NY state government, and probably others, will go after him with a vengeance. And the media will make sure that it is all covered in great detail and volume.

Because Trump must be punished for coming in the politician's sandbox and kicking sand in all their faces. He must be made an example of, so no other outsider ever tries to break up the career politicians' cabal.

And the republicans will be right there along side the democrats, screaming for Trump's scalp. Because in the end, politics has become a business for these people, and they will do whatever they must to discourage another outsider from tampering with their "business".

Here's my advice. Bookmark previous threads and add a link to them while making a new thread. Never hurts making a new thread with the following links to the previous threads.

@Sushiglutton:

I'm sure Trump will do whatever he can to stay in the spotlight. But the media just won't care anymore. Instead we'll be focusing on fixing the damage he caused. There's no telling if the former Trump supporters will EVER trust the media again but that's as much their fault as it is Trump's for leading them astray. I think they're beyond saving at this point and the more the GOP detaches from that group, the better.

Now he's saying he'll leave (flee) the country if he loses. A true patriot.

Not sure the intelligence communities would be too thrilled to have a recent president with his knowledge living overseas though.

Jesus fucking Christ, do you even understand the context in which he said that? Even a little bit? It was said in his rally tonight, and I was watching it. He said Joe Biden was the worst candidate in US history, and if he were to lose to someone that bad, he'd be so embarrassed he might have to hide. It's a joke, get over it.

I think Trump wins. If the people around me, family, friends and co-workers are any indication of the election results, than yes he wins.

Life long Democrats around me are voting for Trump this time around. That has me thinking this way, could be totally wrong. For our Country I hope I’m not.
