Tonight is the 1st night of a two night debate event. Debate will be televised by CNN 8:00-10:00pm ET from Detroit, Michigan.

Also denotes where the candidates will stand podium wise during the debate.
Also denotes where the candidates will stand podium wise during the debate.

"You need to make a move right now": Dems prepare for raucous debates. Candidates who attacked made the biggest waves in the June debates. Now every Democrat is prepared to go on offense in Detroit.

What are your expectations for the 2nd debate?

Like that Politico article says, people who attacked and landed punches at each other were the ones to get the headlines and the poll bounce. So seeing how that behavior was incentivized I expect more of that which should make for good television.

lol, Biden will be flanked by Harris and Booker, an African American and a black woman (optics) that have criticized him before, looking forward to some fireworks. Plus Castro brought the heat in debate #1, who will he choose to attack here? Biden is too obvious, will he go after Harris?

I'm still watching to keep informed but I can't believe we're still at 20 freaking people here. Ridiculous that folks like Delaney, Ryan, and Williamson survived past the first debate.

Whoever recommended Senator Klobuchar to get rid of her eyeglasses (eye surgery or contacts?) should be punched in the face.

Don't know if she has been asked before, if not, someone should ask Senator Warren is Harry Truman was right to use nuclear weapons.

Delaney is the only one who surprised me tonight, too bad he carries himself like a weenie.

Warren looked horrible

Looking forward to Yang and Tulsi tomorrow

Consensus says otherwise..........Warren dominated the debate and had a classic zinger moment.

Sanders did well as well, Buttigieg did well too.

The centrists came to slap, progressives were ready and the center got slapped down. Warren humiliated Delaney.

Not for the time being,

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2019/06/17/nbc_wsj_poll_trump_vs_biden_2020_democrats_impeachment.html

According to internal Trump campaign numbers, new head-to-head numbers for the president and his most likely Democratic opponents are consistent with what other pollsters are finding from other outlets. There's a 10 point lead for Biden, 9 points for Bernie Sanders. Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, and Pete Buttigieg all have a one-to-two-point lead over Trump.

@zaryia: The polling is so bizarre, and it seems that name recognition, not ideology is causing Bernie and Biden to outperform the others.

Looking at things, it should be Warren that is the best candidate as she is not only running the best campaign but can attack the Trump economy the most effectively. Harris should be able to bridge the progressive and moderate wings.

Right now the polls are nothing but noise. Obama won in Iowa against Clinton despite him being 20 points down against her.

Harris stumbled a little bit in her answer. Biden went after straight up calling her a "double talker"! And Harris is stumbling again.

Summary: Biden just did enough to not get killed on stage, but he would not fare well debating against Warren let alone Trump. Harris stumbled. Plus:

Wow, Jennifer Granholm has gotten so bad. These two governors don't add much in terms on analysis only there ostensibly to add a "moderate" voice. Not working.

Booker and Gabbard took W's tonight.

Biden was better but still took an L. Harris did well against him, Booker crushed him, and De Blasio made him stumble. If you really look at it, Biden did worse looking back hours later than minutes later.

Harris stumbled but did okay overall.

Warren won the debate as a whole.

This isn't a new thing. Obama faced some entrenched Democrat opposition his entire Presidency. There were Democrats who ran during his second term on a platform of opposing him. There were also swing states, like Missouri, that flipped red during his initial election out of opposition to some of his ideas (thanks to the resulting political mess and Hillary's incompetence at campaigning, some of those states are likely permanently lost).

This had long-term effects. Obamacare is such of a mess because of the compromises Obama was forced to make in order to even get it passed, the Republicans got bolder about their efforts to bully Democrats into submission, and people closely allied with Obama have tended to find their political power to have a very short shelf life. Pelosi, who gained some notability for being willing to oppose Obama during his Presidency, naturally came out as one of the Democrat leaders with growing authority.

So, I am not surprised Biden is getting burned hard. He's the face of a regime his party only remembers well in hindsight, and even then it's not particularly liked.

Somewhat true. A lot of millennials like myself voted for Bernie and were against Hillary. But this year it seems like the hatred towards the old democratic party has increased even more. It's so fragmented and divided, I'm not even sure if they can win 2020.

I thought Yang had a great debate. He was spot on with his answers, didn't need to attack anyone and easily had the best opening/closing statements of the night. Biden did decent enough dealing with multiple attacks but flubbed often, Harris did too. Her stock took a serious hit tonight. If she couldn't even deal with Gabbard attacking her, She isn't gonna manage when anyone else does. And considering she'd already dropped 4% since the last debate, I expect her to take another dip as well after this one.

Booker did alright but he looked like a moron by saying we are playing into Republican hands by fighting and then proceeds to throw insults at the other candidates.

And if the centrist and establishment wings want to continue their demeaning and corrupt ways, then I hope they like Trump for 4 more years, because thats what they will get with their turd sandwich candidate, Joe Biden.

The person I quoted said race for second. He's talking like they are trailing Trump when it's the opposite. Going by polling at the moment, this isn't possible. A 10 point gap is huge.

He could be right in the future, just not now.

So vote for a Republican? Red States/Voters use the most federal aid. By far. The most socialism in this country is for GOP constituents. This also includes Farmers.
