I remember pre-ordering the legend of zelda: Ocarina of time and it sold out. I was gutted. My mate was playing his copy over the weekend while I was still waiting. I still completed it before him though mwahahaha. I think people just want to make sure their copy is secured (if thats possible).
I think the main reason Vice City was so hard to get at launch for some people was because the PS2 was already out for a while and lots of people had a PS2.
PS3's are still almost like a luxury for many, so I doubt GTA IV will be sold out. But even if it is, there's like 4 Wal-mart's, 5 EB games and a couple of Future Shops all within 20 minutes drive from my house.
