Whenever I have a choice, I usually choose to be female.

Does the sex of your character have any influence over which characters you pick in video games?

Do you guys think it's just to stare at the opposite sex, or an under-laying yearning to be female?

If you get to choose between a guy and a girl, I almost always choose a guy.

In some games I choose female characters, but usually I choose male.

Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires will arrive at my doorstep in 3 days.

You better believe that my CAW (Create a Warrior) will be a female and that there is a good chance it will look as much like Bayonetta as possible.

To answer your question, though, yes. I've always preferred female leads to male ones, and in the cases where there's a large cast to choose, from I usually end up picking the female, either because they're faster and more agile or they're just pretty to look at.

But the number one reason I main females so much is that they always tend to be the odd ones out. The best example is Seong Mi-Na. She isn't the highest tiered character in Soul Calibur IV, but she's the least commonly used and I like that. Same thing with C. Viper in Street Fighter IV.

The only bad thing about this is, if someone comes along who mains the same person I do, I feel like I have to be better at them and that's where the competitive part of me comes in.

It depends like Fallout 3, I had to be male, but in Morrowind I was female.

It kind of depends on a few factors like the type of game, the type of character, and what mood I'm in, but I'd say that the majority of the time I pick females. Especially in stuff like WRPGs or MMOs. Why? Because if I'm going to be seeing the character for hundreds of hours, I'd rather it be a female than a big muscley, sweaty dude. Kratos is the exception.

I think it depends. As long as you're not running around trying to be like these females, then I doubt there's any subconscious thinking going on that would have you do likewise.

I think it's fine to play whatever sex you want, but it's all just a video game.

The way I see it, those who main dudes want to play as a badass and those who main females want to play as someone from a perspective they they don't have (because they're male).

She's like a tiny, cuter version of Potemkin, but a bit faster. I don't know... I also haven't played GG in years, so my opinion isn't really valid.

I choose female because I like girls. ;)

You usually get to be both-in-one with square rpgs!

But to answer the questions, I usually pick males because they tend to be more powerful in physical attacks and I love to see some BIG numbers. Most cases I will play through as both if anything is different story wise, but choose the guy first.

The one time I remember preferring the female was on Star Ocean 2 because you got to have Diaz in your party.

I'm kinda both. I picked a guy for Oblivion but a girl for Mass Effect though that might have to do with the fact that Oblivion women look terrible

I used to LOVE Millia Rage's overdrive, but her moveset was too dynamic.

I ended up liking Kuradoberi Jam better, but her overdrive had to grow on me because in order to pull it off successfully, you had to be really close to the opponent, making it easier to interrupt and completely cancel.

I like to play as female characters cause they tend to be more dynamic and fun to watch. Although in gg I play bridget and sfiv vega(claw)

Fighting her isn't a big deal, it's just playing as her that bothers me.. but that was in GG Judgment, so she might be different in the actual fighting game.
