What would you rate PS3?

Firstly, love your avatar .. SLIPKNOT rules...can't wait for their new CD next year.

I would rate my PS3 around an 8 right now. Lots of good games, but still feel we are falling behind. Next year is looking extremely bright though.

Slipknot does rule! :D, the only problem i have with the ps3 is its online...its not up to par IMO.n00bkid

Hell I wouldn't even know, don't have high speed out here in the country, only got dialup so I can't even go online on my PS3. But finally a high speed company made it available out here so I'm getting it real soon!!!!!

the console is a 9 but ya the online ease of use is a 7

The PS3 has its highlights and lowlights for sure.

The lowlights are the sub par multiplatform games that just don't cut it. I won't fault Sony for that, but it is still a reality owners have to deal with.

The online is not as nicely integrated as something like Xbox Live, but I suppose the trade off is the fact that it's free. But IMO I would pay to have more integrated features, cause I'm so used to them now.

The highlights would be the solid 1st party games, like Uncharted and Ratchet & Clank (2nd party technically) and Heavenly Sword, as well as the promising Killzone 2.

I love the interface and physical machine buttloads more than the 360, and the DVD upconverting and Blu Ray player have been marvelous.

I know there is a new controller coming, but I do need to fault the system a little bit for not having rumble or at least knock it points for having SIXAXIS controls, which I personally feel are useless.

Sadly, I feel the poor 3rd party games are really dragging the system down. If a friend asked me what to get at this stage I would have to tell them to get a 360. I'm hopeful this will change in the future, but now it's just not there.

9.5 because i can barely put it down. i only put it down to sleep and when my eyes bleed XD

my rating is based on how much fun i have with it. i give my 360 a 9/10. ps3 is just so much fun (especially ratchet& clank and uncharted)

Game-wise: 8.0 (Gotta give developers time to harness the system's potential)

Technology-wise: 9.5 (And it will continue to improve as the firmware becomes better)

PS3 - 10

Games - 8/10

Sorry to sound like a complete fanboy type, but I'd have to rate my PlayStation3 at least a 12.5/10.

Unlike my first 360 which bricked after a few months, the PS3 has been fantastic. I prefer the layout interface to that of the 360 and I like the fact that it deosn't cost me another $199 for HD movies and $50 a year to be able to get my downloads and updates. It also helped that I didn't have to send it back for repairs.

I also don't understand how people complain there isn't enough decent games:

so far an 8.5-9.0... mainly cuz most of the excellent exclusives aren't out yet.

by the end of the system's life, I expect a perfect 10.

I have the 60gb, and I think it is the best one, so I would rate it the highest. As for the machine itself, how could it get less than a perfect 10? I mean, it plays all PS2 and PSone games plus DVD's and BluRay's. And then it has a hard drive with all the multimedia functions. And then there is the internet and online stuff. So, right off the bat, you have to rate it better than a stand alone PSone or PS2, because it does everything those machines do, plus WAY more. How could you rate the best selling console of all time (PS2) less than a 9 or so? Then add in the PS3 functions, and I can't see how this isn't the best machine of all time. As for the other models, yeah I could see how those are not perfect 10's. Especially the 40gb. If you take out the PS2, then the new machine is still awesome, but the game library is still small. For the 40gb, I would rate it about an 8.5 or so. Maybe when the game library is larger, I'd bump that up to around a 9.2 or so. The machine is awesome. There is no denying that. All we need are the games, and they are definitely coming. The one and only reason this isn't the hottest selling game console is the price. I truly believe that. Everyone I know wants one, but nobody can afford one. Maybe the new 40gb will change all that.

So far there have been absolutely no games that justify $60, especially when there are tons of better ps2 games. 95% of the games coming out is trash. I bought a launch system so i paid $600+ games + controllers. In less that a year its $399, its a slap in the face. Now they have dualshock 3 coming out as well, another slap in the face. Only thing that was worth looking forward to was maybe the 2.0 update, which was complete crap, no home, no in game xmb, no anything. We didn't even get divx support until now...(or the next update).

PS3 has yet to have a major game come out (like halo for xbox). And these are just some things off the top of my head, and you guys are giving the ps3 over a 10/10??? WOW. just WOW.

Some are stating future releases as justification for their ratings, when they have no idea what they will be like or when/if they will ever even come out. I was a pretty big fan of sony's, almost all my major electronics r from them, from tvs to laptops to my ps3. But the ps3 is the biggest ripoff i have ever purchased. I mean i think there is a good CHANCE it could be a success in the future, but to give it over a 10/10 right now is completely rediculous, how can anyone take you seriously. Now i know why people think im retarded if they know i own a ps3, its because of fanboys like you. Its hard enough to understand why you refuse to acknowledge its flaws, but what confuses me is why you think its the greatest system ever.

Im only giving the ps3 this high a rating because sony just announced divx support which we should be getting in the next update (hopefully), but they still have a lot to do.

Poor & limited community feature's.

PSN store should be intergrated inot the xmb.

Poor PSN content, PSN get's about half the demo's of 360/pc, downloadble game's are few and far between,poor amount of classic's.

No in game XMB.

No rumble.

Exclusive game's have not lived up to expectations, heavenly sword,uncharted,RFOM,motorstorm have all been very good game's but there still is not that 1 amazing game like each other platform has(PC:crysis/360:gear's,Bioshock/Wii:Super mario galaxy).

I'm thinking by may-june 2008 most of these weak points will have been addressed and the PS3 would be a 9-10/10.

im in the same boat as you right now, about an 8.5/9

well before i rate it, im gonna break it down pros and cons,

the pros ,my first and only bluray player, plays my ps2 and ps1 games way supierer to the ps2 which gave me disc read errors

the graphics are as good as 360s, which i really dont care if it were only as good as wii, im not a graphic person, ill play anything thats good, graphics or not

the games are ok right now, nothing spactacular but ok

the cons, when charging controllers i have to share a charger between 4 controllers

the music can not be played when playing any ps3 game,

the system does upgrade to many times, for no reason

im gonna rate this system a solid 8.0 and it is not permanent to say the least once ts4 haze gta and a driver come ill be more happier with a 9

same rating i give both the wii and 360

My man, I would give the PlayStation 3 a perfect 10 if I wasn't a rather reserved person who enjoys the facts before the hype. I am the last person on Earth who would turn a conversation into a mindless systems-war spectacle. But what you're saying is outrageous. For once I'll be brutally honest: The PlayStation 3 blows any console to-date out of the water.

The fact that the PS3 did away with drawer-loading technology & replaced it with slot-loading is a monumental feat in of itself. Gone are the days where the disc slot comes to you - now you literally feed the disc into the system. VHS was the dominant force in home entertainment & a wonderful job it did. So far as to implement widescreen into certain titles. But then along came a little thing called DVD. As you well may know, DVD technology changed the way we enjoyed films at home. From the picture to the audio, DVD acheived a quantum leap over the industry standard. While other console manufactures opted to stick with the DVD format, Sony saw well into the future with Blu-ray Disc; a leap that aliens from distant galaxies are envious of.

So when you sit there & defame the PS3, I can only sit back & laugh. The words that I have expressed here are so powerful, that I'm going to not only post this, I'm also going to take this reply & turn it into a blog. Xbox & Xbox 360 owners came out of the blue so fast, that it's about time that someone puts them in their place. Because up until the point that Microsoft shoved its ugly face into gaming, I can't help but wonder what was their gaming console of choice? People wanna talk about realness & if there's any gaming company more real than Sony, it's Nintendo - not Microsoft & their lame-a$$ system that requires users to pay an additional fee to play online & even more so, extra money to view HD movies via a peripheral that is downright laughable.
