Well, chances are that if you already have (and i think you have) visitet those "wrong" sites. then the virus is already there destroying your PS3. and there's no way to remove it since the PS3 doesn't have a program that let's you do it :D
I'm just kidding. but i wouldn't really know because those "wrong sites" are fake anyways. i mean. if you could watch some of those movies in HD (just to take an example of ONE of the Wrong kind of sites) you would see the girls.. breasts, and up close you can see the "Made In China" mark, on their boobies xD
Theres a free anti virus for ps3 on your web browser that you can install+i believe its free until April.
Go to your bookmarks+you'll find Trend Micro, click on it and follow instructions.
no it cant.
virus's and trojans etc are designed to effect windows. the ps3 is a completly different operating system and works totally different to windows. a virus is set to work with the windows code and designed to hide in some part of you windows formatted hdd(program files and such) and the sp3 also doesnt have this.
if a web site it out on a rampage to destroy every user who looks at the site then it will most likely be a windows virus because if you were to compare the amount of users using these sites that are viewing them with a ps3 and viewing with a pc there would be very fiew ps3's.
anyway point is you should be very safe....until of course ps3 viruses are created but you will have to agree to download any file to the ps3 and im pretty sure psn wont have any virus's so your safe. look at them sites all you want

Well explained. :D
Well is ps3 has an anti virus, that would mean it potentially could catch a virus.
But what D_ano said made sense

Well explained. :D
plus Linux is an open source or something so there are basically no mass viruses for it, because each system in unique or something. idk really i just read that somewehre.
Just format the ps3 and you are done btw: Add me on ps3 network Name: Pardip Thanks Habbodeception
lol, Dude, old thread is old.
So old, in fact, that AmericaHellYeah is in it.
EDIT: Wow, old thread. Why revive it?
The PS3 does not run Windows, and therefore cannot be infected with a Windows virus. If your PS3 is having problems, you have either had a 1 in a septillion moment where you actually downloaded a virus that was made for the PS3 (I doubt their existence, if the PS3 can even download that sort of data anyways), or you are having a different problem totally unrelated to the internet (far more likely).
[QUOTE="khalid_b"]Wow you use a PS3 to watch porn? LOL so one hand on the controller and the other...kweenion his joystick lmao!!!
Viruses are platform specific, if someone was deliberately or even accidently place a virus on a web site for people to browse they would have to verify what the platform was before they provided the content to you.
It is unlikely that there will be viruses for the PS3, not impossible, but due to the amount of cash required to drop in order to get an SDK, you aren't going to see to many virus writers doing it. Yes people have been able to emulate consoles in the past, but it is going to be rare for this to be the target of people who write viruses.
Yep, well explained indeed. But I dont see why you would want to look at sites on your ps3 ;o i find it harder to do my daily tasks so i just use my normal comp ;pno it cant.

Viruses do need to be platform specific. There are some sites that check the platform and if the find that you are using a PS3, they load a version of the page specifically designed to make navigation easier for PS3 users. This would be ideal for hosting a virus. It isn't very likely as most viruses are created to do as much damage as possible, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few in existence. Just a note, the cost of the development software isn't a factor. If you were going to use the software to write a virus, wouldn't you pirate a cracked version?krumm1980
