Should the PSN cost?

Well ima start by saying yes...reasons for that is because we'd have a better online experice...

1:Sony will actually spend money(ours)on the whole look of it...(Themes,interfaces,widgets,ect.)

2:They will spend money(ours)advertising anything the possiblly could...which is not a bad thing...

3:Would spend money(ours)more exclusive content maybe out own SIM(Avitar wonnabees)

4:All that other sh!t i cant think of rigth now that every PLAYSTATION OWNER WANTS & DESERVES

aND YES I HAVE BOTH BUT IM A SONY FAN BOY AT HEART...

It should always be free. If they charged money it would only be for profit. I highly doubt they'd put all that money into R&D, so it's unlikely we'd see the PSN improve at a faster pace than it is now.

PSN does everything I want it to do.

Of course not. Us PS fanboys will lose bragging rights. Also, people would not want to convert to PSN when we all know xbox live has a better online comunity and experience. There is also enough mark-up on the games they publish and they would lose sales if Sony made PSN cost. So in the end, the best things in life are FREE...

What the heck are you talking about..??? The PSN is fine, the quality wasn't all that great at the beginning but now it's up to speed with XBL(I use both)

Hell that's a big no. I use both (PSN a lot more though) and the interface is so much better for browsing. On-line play nothing to choose between them so Sony have got it right!

I personally think it would be best to leave the actual PSN as it is, but they could create something similar to the gold of ms by having a opportunity to dl from faster servers by shopping in the PS Store or by having some downloads earlier and/or cheaper (somehow what they did with quore, but to extend that idea over the whole account)

Is this a troll job? I wouldn't even bother with PSN if it wasn't free. It's very hit-or-miss. I try not to complain about it due to the fact that it's free. I enjoy my uses out of it but most of my online game experiences are noticeably different than a PC game. I haven't played much 360 online to compare/contrast but seeing as how they actually pay for Live, it SHOULD be better. PSN is good considering it is free but some of the micro-transations are downright scams. ($5.99 for 4 miniature MGS figures in LBP, are you serious?)...

Why do people think that the money makes the better service? PSN is almost as good as XBL and it's free, Sony just needs to incorporate a few more things and then it will be on par. The reason you pay for XBL is because M$ runs it's own servers so it needs the money, which is why they have game invites in all their games, but that will probably be the only thing M$ has an upper hand on Sony in because if Sony comes out with cross-game chat and voice messaging, it will be equal to M$ party system.

I can play games online on PSN with hardly any problems, I don't think it should cost. I'm sure Sony is making plenty money from the PS store(s) purchases. PSN may lack some features compared to it's competitors but the online play is great and on par as far as Im concerned, I don't mind waiting for those extra perks to come and it's not something that I really give a damn about to tell you the truth.

Online games work just fine, you've got a nice store where you can get PS1 classics, downloadable games, and free demo's - that's all I want. And it's free! There's no way I'd want to pay so they could add a tiny bit of crap that I have no interest in whatsoever.

Like others have predictably answered, I say no. I can already play online and instantly join a game by accepting an invitation. NOT having to pay a fee just to play online is one of the perks of owninga PS3.
