Sony has released quite a few systems in it's time, but which one was your favorite? Sound off!
I vote PS3, with a proviso. I have the 80 gig backwards compatible 'fat' model, so it plays PS1-PS2-PS3 games along with DVDs, BluRays, and music CDs. If I'd been stuck with the slim PS3 with no backwards ability, then yuppers, I'd vote PS2. I nostalgia game too often to toss the old discs out simply because they're 'old obsolete' games. Strangely enough, the games most often played in that PS3 are from the first era PlayStation. Old skool, my fave skool to attend.
Backwards compatible PS3 for the win. But in all seriousness, PS1 was incredible. Tomb Raider 1-5, Final Fantasy 7-9, Resident Evil 1-3, Valkyrie Profile, Final Fantasy Tactics, Spiro, Crash Bandicoot, Fear Effect, Koudelka, Syphon Filter, Twisted Metal..... Its just an incredible console with legendary games.
Out of all the Playstations ever created, I guess that would include all of the revisions as well. The best PlayStation for me. Would be the first edition PlayStation 3 20Gigger Since you can play PlayStation, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 games. I had to search for a bit to get the fabled PS3 60Giger since it was difficult to find.
I also ended up finding a PS3 20Giger as well. The 20GB looks better since it is all black, with out the chrome trim that the 60Giger sports. So other than not having built in wifi and SD/Compact flash/memory stick pro readers. The 20Giger looks better since it is all black. Chrome trim was all the rage in 2005 and 2006 for the debut of the 7th gen consoles. But all black just looks better.
Hard choice between ps1 and ps2. But how the hell are ps4 and ps3 beating the original ps1? Damm mellinials.
@GTR12: By today's standards the PS4 is a better console. Graphics, sound.. the works. The only downside is the lack of games compared to the older versions which is a serious one indeed
/FACEPALM
No shit its better than everything else, its 2yrs old, by your logic, if they released a PS5 now, that would be the best...
DUH... its the newest of the lot, so it will look the prettiest and sound the best. That's not even the question.

Well then, be more precise about what you find better, please! No one has stated what they find better, only which console they preferred. Give your subjective opinion. Which, incidentally, was the one I stated. I did not particularly like the PS2; I didn't grow up with one and if compared to the PS4, I would never play a game on it. Except, as I already said, said game wasn't available on the PS4.
And no need to roll your eyes and start facepalming.
PS3, simply because it was a workhorse straight out of the box. Blu-Ray player(still considered one of the best out there), DLNA media server and player capabilities, backwards compatibility for the Fat version ....
Not to mention great games. Even with a PS4 and an Xbox one joining the family, I think the PS3 still gets the most loving, especially for media(DLNA, Netflix, Blurays).
Even the regular ps3 that doesn't play ps2 games is better than both psx and ps2. Better video output, and tons of games on psn.
Ps4 is worst by far. Use it as a stand for the Virtual Boy at the moment.
The PS1 because it had the best library of exclusives and I only use my Playstation consoles for exclusives.
PS1 would be my favorite Playstation system cause of the exclusives like Twisted Metal, Tekken, Warhawk, Metal Gear Solid, etc.
It was a close call between the 2 and 3. There are so many games I played for both generations it was a close decision.
This is tough. I know PS2 is going to win because of the fantastic lineup of games it had (many of them exclusives), but I feel that the PS1 was more influential. It came out when many in the industry thought it would fail. 3D polygonal games were relatively new and the PS1 was able to bring success to these games. Many of the great franchises that are still around today originated on the PS1 (Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, Gran Turismo, etc). The PS1 also brought some major success to JRPG's and catapulted older franchises like Metal Gear and Final Fantasy. I have so many fond memories of the PS1 and I feel that the gap in technology between the PS1 generation and the previous 16-bit generation was very large and thus brought in much more excitement and promise.
The PS1 by a country mile. It was cheap, very cheap, it not only introduced the "Platinum" series to gaming, but everyone seemed to have a chipped one with a ton of copied games. People talk of the massive leap from PS2 to PS3. But there was an even bigger leap from 16 bit to 32 bit. Playsation was the start of 18+ gaming and many of the major franchises (The first GTA, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, Colin McRae, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid were awesome) . It completely revolutionized gaming. Plus, it had a CD player and I didn't have one at the time.
PS2 in comparison was pretty crap. The leap from PS1 to PS2 was not that big. Similar in a way from PS3 - PS4.
As much as I loved the PS2, PS1, and PS3, my fondest gaming memories will always lie with the PSP. I won't really recount much of them here, but because the PSP was a portable system I was able to devote hundreds of hours into different games that I otherwise wouldn't have been able to play much if they'd only been on consoles. It truly had a quality library of games, many of which didn't get the sales and recognition they deserved. Hell, I own a Vita and most of the games I play on it are old PSP games.
It was such a fucking disappointment to me that the Vita era didn't turn out to be anything like the PSP years, and what further pisses me the hell off is that some of my all-time favorite PSP games aren't even in the damn Playstation store anymore :(
But oh well. The PS2 had the best library overall, and I've played the PS3 a lot in recent years, but the PSP is the one that will always be my favorite as far as memories and nostalgia goes.
My favorite - PS2. In that time you couldn't beat the outstanding line up for superb games. All you had to do was read the back cover - see Square Soft logo and walk away with the purchase. Sadly the quality of those type of games are greatly diminished.
Original PlayStation also holds a special memory for me, all the superb franchises started on that system that I still enjoy today.
I love all of the PS consoles, however, i have special place for the original PS1. With the release of the PS1 it really felt like a new dawn for video games to me, after playing flat 2d games this was a real revelation to me at least.
Sony should make a PS4 in a PS1 case for collectors, i'd buy one.
I love playstation regardless. I've got them all but I was more excited with the ps2 when it was released.
I got mine for Christmas and it made my Christmas that year. I have so many fond memories with that system, it was my first dvd player, (hahaha) and I was blown away with the graphics of that time especially when they changed the way grand theft auto 3 looked when it was released.
It's got a brilliant catalogue of games for people to play such as metal Gear, Devil may Cry, God of War all sorts I can't think off the top of my head but if you don't have one.... BUY ONE! There cheap and games are next to nothing it's worth investing money into a ps2 console the experience is one of excitement to just play a game with no hassle from anyone online (haha) games aren't to long to complete and no pressure collecting trophies just straight gameplay.
I think the PS2 was just a fantastic system. There were so many games for the PS2, and tons of great JRPGs.
I also really liked my Playstation, I just got into the console really late. It would be my second-favorite Sony game system so far.
I wasn't a huge fan of the PS3, it had a few okay games but I don't really regret not being with them most of last gen.
I really liked the Vita as a piece of hardware, but I think its game library could have been much better and the proprietary memory cards were a huge drawback.
I got the PS4 at launch, but I am still not sold on it. Considering it's been out for a while now, that's a little disheartening.
PS3...hands down the best exclusives of its time and massive and fantastic library....gonna buy a Super Slim again....I was so stupid when I sold mine for a dumb Xbox One which is a piece of shit!!!
@GameSpot, Coolyfett would have to say the PSP gave him the most bang for his buck. Used as both, a video game player, digital music player, photo gallery and video player. The PSP is Coolyfetts favorite system. Coolyfett missed all of Generation 5 with the PS1 and casually played the PS2 when that console was released. So far the PS1, PS4 and Vita are the 3 systems Coolyfett has never owned. The Vita and PS4 will be purchased in the future though.
Come on 20somethings. It should be ps2 by a mile. Gta 3, Socom 2, Mgs! Are you kidding me. All those games were like OMFG on the ps2 changing lives. Ps3 just amplified it. Or ruined it. (Socom) hahah.
Ps1 was a Godfather. But ps2 brought online gaming (vs ps1) and that right there changed the world of gaming for consoles and us teens. Ps2 And DNAS! Alll DAYYY
