Is 3.0 slowly killing older model PS3s?

And yeah I'm worried about this, really worried. I've had my 60GB for almost 3 years and it hasn't had a problem. If it were to break shortly after installing FW 3.0 to it, then I'd have to believe that may have had something to do with it.

Well would it make you feel better if I told you my Launch 60GB system has been updated since it's release and I haven't had one issue ..

No americahellyeah and CR both had a Canadian tag in thier sig

The biggest problem with updates breaking ps3s is losing connection to psn while downloading then your ps3 freezes and before thier HDD light turns off they'll turn off thier ps3 thus corrupting thier OS's

Anyway, so your 60GB hasn't had a problem since the update. Great. I hope mine doesn't either. All I'm saying is, if it were to YLOD shortly after applying 3.00 to it, I'm going to think it may have had something to do with it, even if it really didn't. :P

An interesting theory, but my 60g model is still going strong and was purchased 1 month after the PS3 orginally came out.

True, true...But I already dismantled it to get CoD4 out of the blu-ray drive. I paid $60 for it, and Gamestop's offer is $60 for broken PS3s towards the Slim. I would rather keep the game than get $60 and lose a game completely. But thats me :) I am gonna miss my 60gb, but it wasn't gonna last forever, thats life, lol.

3.0 is cool - stop beating up on it - course its not killing of older PS3's & and the extras theyve added will not be increasing heat output to the extent of failure!
