[QUOTE="Rifle76"]Anyone know if GTA 4 is going to support rumble because I want to get full use of my Dualshock 3
-Intellectual-
Why dont you use the sixaxis ? you can tilt. Rumble is last-gen.
It's NOT native 1080p.
ummm the DS3 still provides sixaxis support.
[QUOTE="1357"][QUOTE="Chutebox"][QUOTE="LocalGod_TM"]yep ...the game is native 720P but supports upscaling to 1080P ...
sorry folks..:P no dice on the 1080
also IMO 720p looks alot nicer then 1080i...at least on my tv, 32" widescreen LCD...the 1080 resolutions only look good on tv over like 42"... i prefer progressive scan to no progressive scan for sure
Chutebox
720p>1080i. You're correct.
720p is nicer then 1080i my friend.. this is how it goes. 1080i, 720p, 1080p
people who use 1080i are in denial... 720p is better nuff said
I'm confused, I'm probably reading into this wrong, but it sounds like you were arguing with me?
I mean 720p is better than 1080i. The order you stated is correct.
1080i should be producing a better picture as long as there is no alot of movement or action taking place on the screen. I certainly wouldn't consider 720p to be better than 1080i in every respect.

Hopefully you are being sarcastic about rumble being last gen. The Dualshock 3 has sixaxis capabilities and seeing I just bought a Dualshock 3 I want to get full use of it.FYI, guys, this means it only supports 1080p UPSCALED, not native. The game runs at 1280x720p, but upscales to output 1080p for those of us with those expensive, high-end 1080p HDTVs.
Unlike the XB360, the PS3 doesn't upscale all games to 1080p automatically; the game developer (Rockstar, in this case) has to upscale the game themselves. It's a little bit of an inconvenience and performance drop for Rockstar, but it's a cool and nice gesture that they did it!
Woah come on ppl start lookin harder!! didnt u c that it only said 1 player!!!! wasnt there rumors of only split screen on ps3 and now theres no split screen.

so this mean it will not support rumble
and dude without no installation the load times would be horrible

How does this solve your problem exactly? :?
The game will be displayed at 1080i instead of 480p... problem solved. (same way that Uncharted works)
It would have displayed at 1080i anyway. Most all 1080i games are also 720p, you never had any problem lol.
I don't think you get it. My TV doesn't do 720p, only 1080i. I'm forced to play games like Resistance, Tiger Woods, Madden, etc. in 480p, which, if you don't know, looks like ass on a 57" HDTV.
If R* didn't add upscaling to this game like Naughty Dog did with Uncharted, I would be forced to play it in 480p.

I'd like to know too since I bought one today
Considering:
1. Most games that have been released after the release of the DS3 in Japan have featured rumble
and 2. Now the DS3 is officially out in the U.S. and the game is arriving after that, I think it's safe to say it will have rumble.
[QUOTE="RotaryRX7"]I doubt it's a native 1080p game, most likely upscaled. If it is native though, that would be sweet.
And come on, GTA graphics don't "suck balls" but yeah they're no Gran Turismo or MGS..lol

PS3 can upscale, eg COD4( 600-640P), GT5 Prologue(1280*1080) etc.
PS3 can hardware upscale in horizontal (GT5), but needs software upscaling for the vertical (COD4).
last time i checked ps3 dont upscale? so should be native
So Question since my TV is 1080p does that mean it can handle 1080i and 720p if I Ever Choose to run games in those resolutions??? I"ve never tried>>>>>
I'd love to compare GTA IV on my tv at various Resolutions!!!

It depends. Most, but not all, TVs that display 1080p will also display all lower resolutions. I leave all the output resolutions enabled and the PS3 chooses the most appropriate setting when the game boots. In most cases, I think the game's native output is preferable.
In other words, I run most games in 720p on my 1080p panel.
isn't native, its a multiplatform game.
the 360 can't really run in 1080p, we learned that after halo 3. so its probably upscaled to 1080p for those who have humongous tv's.
720p is prolly what it runs in unless you force 1080p... according to the box cod4 runs in 1080p. ya ok -_-
I've yet to see a game on either console that really runs in 1080p.
Sports games do, but they're not as graphically-intensive. Full Auto 2 runs in 1080p, but it might have the least detailed graphics of any game in this console generation. I'm not reassured by the fact that Killzone 2 is rumored to be a 720p game, either.
GT5 will probably be the first game of this generation to have full-fledged, respectable 1080p graphics.

Well PS3 can't really run graphically intensive games at 1080P either, RSX is not exactly a powerhouse GPU. None of the PS3 exclusives ( well other than those simple looking PSN games like Super Stardust HD, Pixel junk etc) are 1920*1080 either. Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet, Folklore etc are all 720P, GT5 Proglogue is 1280*1080

Actually GT5 Prologue is suppose to be 1280*1080 native. PS3 can do hardware upscaling for the horizontal axis.

Some PSN titles run in 1080p native, and as for Blu-Ray releases, the only ones I know of are one of the NBA games that came out last year and Ninja Gaiden Sigma.

The claims about GT5P's 1280 resolution are based on the demo that came out months ago. There's been no official word on Prologue's final output resolution.
However, I was talking about the full version of GT, whose release date is still uncertain. I'm hoping they manage full 1080p in the final spec.
GTA IV is UPSCALED 1080p. Not true/native 1080p (check the latest Gamespot multiplayer preview if you don't believe me).
GT5:P is most likely 1280x1080p, NOT full 1920x1080p. Polyphony, the developers, have said that targeting this resolution offers the best balance between sharpness and performance. If they were to target full 1920x1080p resolution, then they would have had to seriously cut back the graphics, effects, and detail, and it wouldn't be able to run at 60 fps. Full 1080p is TOO performance intensive to achieve those kinds of graphics and that 60 fps framerate.

okay.. i was arguing with u lol... i was confused of ur order hahah... it looked like u were saying 1080i is better sorry man
LOL! You are both wrong!
720p=921,600 pixels on the screen
1080i=2,073,600 pixels
1080i is more than twice the resolution of 720p. These are facts that are scientifically undisputed. 720p may be smoother for fast moving images or camera jerking, but 1080i still has a superior image. Even if you try to give the old argument (which has been debunked) that only 30 fields are displayed at a time, 1080i still has 1,036,800 pixels in each field. Still more than the 921,600 pixels of 720p by over 100,000 pixels. So take it from a scientist, it is scientifically impossible for 720p have a better image than 1080p from a source which is natively at least 1080i (most ATSC HD broadcast television). If you still can't see the difference, contact your local optometrist ASAP!
By the way, I PC game at 1600p which is twice the resolution of 1080p. Four megapixels baby, yeah!
The PS3 has no built in scaler so it is impossible for the PS3 to scale up to 1080i or 1080p. There is a software update for SDK's that allows a publisher to implement scaling to 1024x1080. This may be what the cases are doing but 1080p would be a lie! Everyone knows that 1080p or full HD is synonymous with 1920x1080 resolution. I don't know why devs would use this because the last dev I spoke to said that you have to devote 2 SPE's to the software scaling algorithm and a ton of code which slows everything down. Maybe GTA IV isn't too demanding for the PS3.
Just bought GTA4 and unfortunately....it sucks.
Clumsy controls, unresponsive controls, etc etc etc
Wow what hype for this garbage. My wife even bought me the strategy guide. I'm sticking to PC games. I'm tired of wasting money.
GTA IV runs at 630P according to Kotaku!
Early test reports are finding that Grand Theft Auto IV is only running at 630P on the PlayStation 3—falling short of hi def—while the game runs at 720P on the Xbox 360. Clearly, the PlayStation version must look worse, right? It's not that simple. But the basic explanation is easy enough to understand.Kotaku.
