every PSN ID is taken apparently!

ok well my housemate has just bought himself a new PS3 from tesco with me this very evening and all was well until we tried to set up his online account! everything he tried was unavailable, and im not trying to be funny but we tried everything here!!!! even just mashing the keyboard didnt get accepted can anyone help shed a little light on this problem as we are both stuck!! and im sure this has been posted before but im just LOST!

If I were you I'd contact Sony about what's going on. If slamming on the keyboard didn't work then something must be up. Unless of course your PS3 isn't connected to the internet yet. I'd check over everything and then give them a call.

thats impossible there is an almost infinate amount of names.

just say the name gamespot is taking as an id then try gamespot1 or gamespot12 or gamespot123 or gamespot321 and so on i can go on forever. anyway this is why so many people have numbers after their name dont expect to be able to get a psn id with a ID like solid snake try solid snake126347234863

been trying to get my account online today too and none of the id's work
