Do you think sony is smart for not changing their controller for their entire like videogame system lifespan(or whatever its called)

I think their smart for doing it

but not smart for changeing the controll scheme for some games and so that you can change it to what your use to.

I used to play MGS2 & MGS3 on PS2... When MGS4 came out for PS3 it was very hard for me to use that control sheme... Now I can't play MGS1 and MGS2 because of the controls of MGS4... I think, that konami was smart to change the controls... Now Snake can do more moves...

I liked it for PSX and PS2, but I find the thumbsticks a little weird on the PS3 (a little loose).

I love that they've kept the same control. No new wonkyness to get used to. The only thing I do wish we could do is adjust joystick sensitivity and buttom mapping from the XMB. There's really no reason why we shouldn't be able to.

Again i say, 'Why fix what isnt broke?"

Growing up with the same controller, ive gotten used to gaming with it. Its better on my Hand-eye co-ordination too, since i already pre-mapped the controller in my head, faster reflexes. I can just jump straight into any game, and pretty much know what button would do what.

i like the small changes they made with each iterations of the controller, only thing left is to put more resistance on the analogs.

I think that keeping the overall dimensions of the DualShock consistent for the past 3 generations has been both good and bad, but mostly good. The design is comfortable first and foremost. Sony DOMINATED the last 2 generations, with over 200 million consoles sold. I would estimate at least 500 million people have held a PlayStation controller in their hands. It's easy to pick up and play that way.

There have been small tweaks with the angle of the thumbsticks and pressure of the buttons, but no major changes.

That said, I wouldn't mind a change if they decided to make one. I find a way to adapt.

i think they need to implement the 360 trigger system or at least make it so that its comfortable and easy for me to use my index finger and middle finger at the same time.. oh and tighten up the analog sticks

other then that the dual shock 3 is perfect

I would hate the trigger shoulder pads like the 360 controller, but thats just personal taste.

I like it just fine. It was such an easy transition from PS2 to PS3 for me because I already had a feel for the controller. I think they should stick with what's been working for them. They just need to be sure to include rumble from the start next time. The Six-Axis was way too light. I hated it.

they couldve changed the sticks do be indented and have a grip like the 360s...because you have to use them a lot more now due to the games out and sometimes on long gaming sessions(or short intense ones) your hands get sweaty and your thumbs slip off....i like the set up and everything else though that can stay....

Not a big fan of the 360 triggers, but I too loathe the awkwardness (and slipperyness) of the L2 and R2 buttons. However, the real trigger extentions are effing amazing. I can't play without them anymore. They're available at Gamestop, Bestbuy, Walmart, etc. I HIGHLY recommend them!

First of all I live in an Asian country and yes the majority (not all) have smaller hands than Americans and Europeans.

Obviously the OP has a short memory. When sony first released pic's of the new controller (pic above), the community was in an uproar over the design. It was so bad that sony changed it back.

Best controller ever, I wish it stays the way it is forever.

In fact, I hate how DS3 changed the trigger buttons to resemble the 360 controllers. Should have stayed the same like the R1/L1 buttons.

controller is nice, but it wouldnt hurt making some minor tweaks....such as the slippery triggers, analog placements, and the material used on the analog sticks.

That's how I was, too. I mean, MGS1-3 are brilliant games... they should definitely remaster them with the new controls (though that might make them too easy. IDK)

I think the PS3's controller should have been accompanied with a design more accustomed for first person games. The way the joysticks are now, first person games are still totally playable, but they're not as easily playable as maneuverable as they could be. Even the orignal Xbox had the perfect joystick placement nailed, and the 360's controller really perfected everything with grooves that fit the relief of one's grasping hand, neither of which are things the PS3's controller boasts. Now I don't think the PS3's controller is bad per se, its just not comparable to the far superior 360 controller in mine, and most other's opinions (I'm not a fanboy btw, I don't even own a 360). The least Sony could have done was take advice from the original Xbox, and changes the joystick placement, but they didn't. and I can't really knock 'em for not copying their competitor, so whatever, I guess we'll have to live with the way the controller is now. Maybe next gen.

At the very least, the trigger design needs fixing. The convex style of them isn't exactly great. They don't even feel like real triggers.

well the triggers are horrible. Whoever thought that up should have been fired i mean its so bad that alot of fps games default to R1 being the fire button. Also another thing that's wrong with it imo is the stick placement. After playing with the xbox setup for all these years i have to say its much better and just feels so much more natural. The rumble could probably use a step up too. I mean if you only own the ps3 you probably dont notice but ive personally noticed that 360 controllers pack much stronger vibrations.

Now really the only thing they should have changed this gen is the triggers i really dont have a big problem with the other stuff.

Actually, I wish Sony didn't change their controller. Those R2/L2 buttons are pretty stupid. I don't know if they were trying to make a trigger, but if you're going to try to make a trigger, you have to give it some sort of grip...

I love the controller, out of all the ones I've used the Dualshock is the most practical and easy to use so na I don't think Sony should change it. But if they do I hope to god they don't make it primarily motion control.

Different design but they should stick with the overall appearing of the controller. I'm used to it for 13 years now. I don't want to change it completely. This controller would be sweet
