I couldnt care less, I wanted a PS3 when it was 499$ so I bought it, I actually got mines on sale though, came with GH3 and was 350$ before tax.
PRice drops and bundles happen often. Theres no way to avoid it unless you buy a new model ASAP. I can deal with it :P
I have the premium 60GB PS3 with 320GB HDD I added myself which means BC! I definitely made the right choice. If I could've peeked into the future at that time I'd still buy it at launch.with so many variations of the ps3 to have come out since its launch (and this goes for the 80 gig buyers also) do you feel cheated to have paid more for less? i mean now they have 150 gig packs and comming up 250 gig packs. hell son, Japan is getting a 250 gig FFIII bundle for christmas! do you wish you had waited? do you often.....or not so often think to yourself how unfair life can be!?

I bought mine @ launch and never once regretted my decision. Not only do I have BC (which in all honestly I couldn't care less about) but I've been playing games on it since 06 and loved every minute of it.
I've not once had nothing to play even throughout 07 when there weren't too many titles out there was still enough to tide me over. And now the awesome titles just keep pouring in.
I had the time and access to those games for a while since I bought it so early and I think that more than makes up for buying one right now and trying to catch up on all the great games released so far.
Nope, i paid 299.99 for mine nearly 2 years ago ;P . Thank you walmart! But yea things are always higher when they first come out. But hay if you had waited what would you have done all this time gaming wise? I just wish sony had been able to start off at a lower price. But hay even when it first came out it was cheaper than most stand alone BR players and was actualy by all the reviews iv seen better than most of them...and still is ;)
It has NONE? I'm am not the biggest Wii fan but there is SSB: Brawl, Galaxy, Animal Crossing, Twilight Princess, the new Dead Space game. Even though it is deemed a "child's" console, it has something for everyone.nope. and im a ps3 launch 60gb owner.
but i do feel cheated for the $250 i spent on the wii....it has no games that spark my interest.
I ALSO feel cheated for the 360 with the amount of accessories i had to buy for it in 2005-2006. things llike the $20 official plug and charge kit, $100 wifi-adapter, $50 gold xbox live membership.

At first when i bought it, i had buyers remorse. but as my collection of games grew. and i had some extended time playing it. so considering every game now i buy i want it to be on my PS3.
it's the one machine i turn on at least every couple days of the week to game, play music while i'm studying, or watch a movie.
plus over the summer i got myself an 1080p HD Tv from Dynex for pretty cheap. so i've bought 4 Blu-Ray's (Dark Knight, Alexander Director's Cut, Kingdom of Heaven and The Patriot). to take advantage of it.
I bought my PS3 in late March 2009 for $400.00 dollars.
as of mid October 2009. i have 26 PS3 games, 7 PSN games, occasionally will use Home, and i bought a PSP Go and have 7 games for that.
All things considering though i do own a 360 and DS, the Playstation machines dominate my time of entertainment. unless it's exclusive and it's something i'm interested in, i usually always buy for the Playstation machines.
TC, without the intitial people buying the ps3s at those prices, u'll never ever see a drop in pricing (except for clearingstocks). Production costs were high during the initial phase of manufacturing. now as processes have been refined, materials cheaper, etc etc. only then does the ps3 price drop. not to mention trying to cover some cost they incurred for r&d. well.. lets just say people who bought at the high prices just helped to lower the prices eventually. so no. no regrets. its for the greater good.
The PS3 had never cost 699 dollars.i bought my PS3 for $540AU off ebay at a time when they were $699 in the stores. I made the right choice.

ive been enjoying my ps3 since the december of its release and i dont feel cheated but cant say im happy to see the ps3 drop down to like half the price i paid for like 4 times the gigs *250gig for $350 WTF SONY!!!!!*
If i could go back i wouldnt of waited this long but i woulda waited till the first price drop.
I payed $499.00 for my 40g. At FULL price it was still an extraordinary value for what you got and still continues to be one of the slickest pieces of tech I've owned in a long time. Fry me all you want but when you actually consider value + function combined, the system never really WAS overpriced. I'm glad I supported early and have no problem with new users coming aboard at a lower price than myself and benefitting because we ALL benefit that way. I never felt cheated as a result of price lowering.
I got a 40GB model, and don't regret it (it would have been nice if they included a DualShock controller rather than the older Sixaxis one though).
40GB was a bit tight storage wise, but it was a simple matter to replace the drive, and now I've got a console with a larger drive than any of the configuration's Sony is currently selling at a much lower cost than trading in my existing console. The only annoying part was that some of the screws on the hard drive caddy had been overtightened.
I've easily had enough use out of the console to make the price worth while.
nice thread its interesting to see peoples circumstances and opinions on this.
i bought my ps3 bundled with mgs4 :P
but actually most of my time spent on the ps3 is probably watching stuff i have downloaded, the ps3 has changed the way i view entertainment now, and its a central part of my entertainment experience, the games are just the beginning.
i probably sound like a fanboy, there probably is a little hyperbole i didn't have to use but that is how i feel.

Those are both awesome points that I forgot to mention. I do pretty much everything on it now, especially music and videos as well as general surfing on the web. It may not be as robust as a computer but it comes close enough. Sitting on me backside on the couch sure beats hunching forward at a computer desk.
Fuggin hell 400 quid is a lot. I myself was pushed away by PS3's price initially and bought a 360 instead. I learnt my lesson when it got RROD a year later, and after paying for 3 months membership and then losing it. I bought a 120 GB Slim with Killzone 2 for 240 pounds (about $400) and I think my new PS3 is vastly superior to my old 360.I got my PS3 about 8 months after launch for £400. I made the right choice i think

bought it on 23/03/07 (France release date), participated in the HD DVD/Blu-ray war, cried when Warner became Blu-ray exclusive (knew then we had won), have now 180 Blu-ray and 25 PS3 games, discovered all the old firmware updates and the new things they achieved ; no reason to regret anything
