with so many variations of the ps3 to have come out since its launch (and this goes for the 80 gig buyers also) do you feel cheated to have paid more for less? i mean now they have 150 gig packs and comming up 250 gig packs. hell son, Japan is getting a 250 gig FFIII bundle for christmas! do you wish you had waited? do you often.....or not so often think to yourself how unfair life can be!?

i feel pretty good about my purchase for the sole reason that i was lucky enough to get one of the last remaining brand new 80gig BC bundles(Motorstorm). i did however pay 499 for the bundle but i think the sacrifice was well worth because instead of waiting and holding out until now, i was able to enjoy some choice gaming while others had to wait for the price drop. now if any of these had BC, THEN is be a little teed, but i still got to play it before other people though and i guess that makes it worthwhile for me

haha, thats ok. I got a nice 80gb one. However, half a year later I got YLOD, but then they sent me another PS3 bcause it was within the warranty. YLOD is horrible :(

No, i do not feel cheated.

in the span of when i bought my 80GB to this week's announcements of 250GB consoles, ive put in countless of hours of gaming into 17 games. having that much fun in that long a period made me forget how much i paid for my current gaming setup, which cost me a lot more than $599 given i had to upgrade to an HDTV as well.

besides, i've only used 35GB out of my current console, so the concept of high capacity hard drives don't even cross my mind.

i hadnt checked how much HDD space ive used up probably since about may or june but ive only bought maybe 4 or 5 games since then i think so i know im not high but i still plan on upgrading my HDD space in the very near future though. i want the 500 gig, or at the very least 200. hey if this things gonna have a 10 year lifespane, i wanna be prepared for the long haul

In retrospect, i probably should have waited a little bit instead of buying a PS3 at launch. Not because of the price tag, but mainly due to the severely limited game library that was available at that time period. But, no i don't feel cheated. However, i do admit that new buyers have it real good these days... and when some of them take the current game selection or the newly lowered price for granted, and then still manage to find something to b**** about, the words "if i only had deals like this when i was buying my PS3, you goddamn bastards" start running through my head  :P

I don't feel cheated even though I paid $1000 AU for it at launch. I'm actually glad I bought one then because the BC was removed in the next model. Also, the launch 60gb had the most features (despite having a small hard drive compared to new models, it can be upgraded easily).

I bought the initial PS3 at launch here in the US and I did not pay "more for less" as you put it in the topic post. I paid "more for sooner". Anyone who isn't dumber than a rock knows that you always pay more if you get new technology when it's new. This is true for the newest tech in TV's, computers, MP3 players, phones, sound systems...etc., not just consoles. Anyone who feels cheated now is an idiot for not knowing that the price would go down...

The truth is that I snatched up a PS3 immidiately because I was sure they would strip out BC and for me that's an important feature (athoughI have two PS2's, I don't want to have to have more than one console in my rack). Turns out I was right on the mark with that prediction and I am glad I paid $599 and got it.

And BC is not the only thing they have stripped out of the PS3 since launch. The fact is that those who have the original PS3 actually got more...so if anything we paid "more for more" as well as "more for sooner".:P I'd actually buy a second PS3 if they would re-offer one that has all the features that the original launch PS3 had...and I'd pay $599 for it even. With the current gimped version they are selling, I'm waiting on my second one until I absolutely need one (i.e. the current one dies).

nope. and im a ps3 launch 60gb owner.

but i do feel cheated for the $250 i spent on the wii....it has no games that spark my interest.

I ALSO feel cheated for the 360 with the amount of accessories i had to buy for it in 2005-2006. things llike the $20 official plug and charge kit, $100 wifi-adapter, $50 gold xbox live membership.

Nope no regrets. I've been playing my ps3 for longer than those who waited and the countless hours of gaming and Blu Rays I've watched the extra price has paid for itself imo. As to hard drive space...why wait? Buy now and upgrade!

i have never regretted buying my 60gig. it may have cost me $1000 (Australian, everything is a rip-off down under) but it still is the best ps3 to date. as for the hard drive, why not jusat upgrade it? only cost me $100 for a 320gig hard drive.

I got my 60GB PS3 just a few months after launch. Paid about 800 for the console, Resistance, and another SIXAXIS. I'm really glad I made my purchase when I did. BC is important to me, and it didn't hurt that I got a head start compared to most people. Oh, and that's how technology works. The same technology gets cheaper and cheaper as time goes by. That's like asking people who bought the first few personal computers if they felt cheated.

My first PC cost over $6,000 (not including monitor) and it only ran at 60 MHz...what is that by today's standards, like 0.06 GHz?

Haha, exactly. Gotta' marvel at how fast technology can move. You can't avoid buying it because it's useful, but you're always faced with improvements being put over your already-owned stuff.

i got my ps3 on launch 2006 the 60gb model, and no i dont feel cheated, cuz everythin such as cell fones, tvs, consoles, computers and so on ,will eventually drop in price. it all matters TO YOU if YOU are willin to shell out abit more at the start to enjoy somethin rather than wait for a price cut in the future, we all knew there were going to a price cut, eventually ps3 will be 199 but honestly i shelled out close to 700 bucks and i dont regret one bit. why u ask? simple really, i got to have ps3 that plays ps1, 2 and 3 games. i wanted a ps3 by then had the money ( a job or 2 to back my expenses towards it) and mainly cuz of resistance lol, when it first came out and it was my first game, i loved it. best game at that time, wat i mean about best game is it had good story mode, co-op in single player, 40 players online! and so on, so to answer ur question no i dont feel cheated, i feel happy actually cuz alot more ppl get the chance to get it now since its cheaper and enjoy wat the system offers.

Itsa given that early adopters get screwed over, but thats part of the experience. You get the early (basically prototype version this generation), but you also get to play the games first, and in my case, BC.

I don't regret it, but at the same time I want a slim. I set up the kiosk in our store yesterday and they are a lot prettier than I thought they were.

I bought the 80GB BC MGS4 bundle for $600 off ebay (plus the guy threw in a new copy of LBP for free because I did Buy It Now) and it's been worth every penny so no I don't feel cheated. Oh yeah, and I'm importing the Lightning bundle too :P

I got mine when they launched in the UK and I got the lovely YLOD a couple of months ago, when I rang Sony to arrange a replacement I got speaking to the operator and I asked him if I should go for the new version and he said no - the old backwards compatable ones were worth a lot more

I camped out for the launch but didn't get one. I got one a couple weeks later (after camping out for the Wii and selling it almost immediately). I paid 600 and I never regret it. Why would I care about the hard drive? I got a 320 gig for like 70 bucks and now my PS3 is perfect. I remember the thrill of camping out, thinking we were gonna get one and sell it on ebay for thousands of dollars... The launch was crazy!

If anyone feels cheated there fools, its a fact that it was going to go down in price, and they bought it knowing full well it would be cheaper later.

Why should I care about $600 I spent more than two years ago? I do, however, feel a little cheated that I bought it thinking x-box wasn't reliable enough and now my PS3 is broken. Still, I prefer the games on PS3 anyway, just wish I didn't have to shell out for another but i will if that Uncharted 2 bundle comes to my neck of the woods.

Don't feel cheated at all. As technology progresses, most electronic items get cheaper and more powerful. You can always wait and get a better deal next year. But I'd prefer to actually buy something and start enjoying it right away.

I don't feel cheated at all. I only paid $450 for a 60 Gig + Resistance: Fall of Man a couple weeks after launch. No tax either. The only thing I regret to some extent is buying a 250GB internal harddrive for it for like $170 back then. HD's are much cheaper now...

Yeah, I'm sure they felt real cheated. After all, how were early adopters of new technology supposed to know that the price would go down sometime after they bought it. THat has NEVER happened before. Especially with videogame consoles.

I still know I got the best deal back when I got the 60 gig system because not only it had every feature possible but now the value is still close to what I paid for the thing. There has never been any electronic device that has retained it's value like the 60 gig PS3 does.

The sooner you buy a PS3 the more you pay, however you get to enjoy it for years ahead of people who wait for it to get cheap. So you get what you pay for.

I waited for awhile to get the PS3. I waited for some of those interesting games to ACTUALLY come out, because games I look forward too have a habit of getting randomly canceled.

If I had known Sony was just going to drop backward compatibility when I wasn't paying attention I would have picked up a launch model.

nah, i got my 60gig right around launch and i still feel good about my purchase. bc cuts into the price difference a bit, but thats beside the point. ive gotten a lot of good gaming time out of my ps3 that i wouldnt have had if i werent an early adopter. though i will admit that the ideal value is probably right around the release of the last bc model (i forget which one it was though), but theres no use in going that far in monday morning quarterbacking.

Why would anyone feel bad??? its technology! Buy a laptop now for 1000...in 2 years its half price at least. Same goes for LCD/Plasma TV's. I bought mine for 2000...now its about half that price.

Its inevitible...there's no winning that game. Something will always be better around the corner which drives the prices down.

i bought my PS3 back in January 2007, I paid about $700 for my 60GB and i'm not complaining.
