Err... I am gonna sound very stupid by asking this but I am a complete 'noob' when it comes to PC... anyway, my question is:

' where does the cable goes? '

DVI side to the monitor (as long as it has a DVI in and not just VGA) and HDMI into back of PS3.

The sound is part of HDMI but I do not believe DVI supports sound (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). If the OP has a sound system, then he could run an optical cable for the sound.

So I also need to get an Optical Cable as well if I hook my ps3 to a PC mnitor in order to get sound?

If you have a receiver that accepts optical inputs, then yes, that would be the way to get the best sound quality. I don't know what kind of set up you have but if you are connecting it to a PC monitor then it sounds like the PS3 is next to your PC. If that is the case then you will probably need to figure out another way to get audio.
