Seems like alot of people took the thread and made it bash their poor judgment rant. If you bought a game because of good reviews and didn't like it too bad. I'm taking this post to mean what was the worst game you bought that even got poor reviews. Mine was Meat Puppets. Long time ago there was a game called Crusader No Remorse and this new game came out and looked just like it so without any regard to all that was written about it I bought it. What a MORON!
Age Of Conan was a serious waste of $50 for me. I canceled my account the same night I got the game cause it didn't seem very good, I played for about 5 days after that and haven't touched it since. From what people are saying on the offical forums and other forums. It hasen't gotten any better yet. Failcom not Funcom.
If I believed in god id be thanking him for slapping me to my senses, I almost bought the collectors edition..
I just bought the new adventure game Art of Murder - FBI Confidential and I am already wishing I had not. While I haven't it for long I am already getting that "there is something wrong with this vibe".
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. turned out to be a dud for me. Even when I had something to shoot at I was still bored.
Off topic a bit, games that got rave reviews I regret buying:
Bio-Shock. I honestly have no fun in this game, I wish I did.
The Witcher. Maybe I just don't 'get it', but I really don't see what all the fan-based hype was about. I didn't finish the game, I got as far as some swampy area and gave up. What was with all the loot you could find and carry that seemed to serve no purpose what so ever?
World of Warcraft. I played EQ since 1999, but it isn't bias that makes me hate WoW, I welcomed it with open arms (I bought every MMO that came out since Merridian 59) but didn't enjoy it.
Back on topic, horrible games I bought against better judgement, and ignored reviews:
Lords of EverQuest: urg, it hurts. make it stop.
EverQuest II: urg, this hurt too. make it stop.
Rollercoaster Tycoon 3: Sigh, I had such high hopes. Such high hopes..
Silverfall: I wanted a brainless Dioablo 2 clone... it was that, only without the fun.
Rise of Legends: Sigh... I really wanted Brian Reynolds to make good RTS games, but I am not a fan of the Rise of Series at all, wish I were.
World or Warcraft: Burning Crusade.... okay I have only myself to blame for this one, since I didnt even like the original game.. I was hoping that since my wife was addicted to WoW this would bring us closer together and give me a new shot at liking it.. I was wrong.
[QUOTE="Jamex1987"]Crysis. It was a buggy overhyped mess of a game. fethehlHow was it a mess and how was it buggy? You realize you getting low fps isn't a bug right? Just cause your system can't run it or has issues, doesn't mean Crysis was buggy or a mess. I don't think I've even heard of bugs in crysis. I had no crashes, bugs, anything either.
Crysis has no bugs? I don't think you an I played the same game. The bugs are so bad that Crytek literally abandoned the game.
EASILY The Shield. Saw it for one dollar at Half Price Books and played the first level. Guess what? A STEALTH mission with AUTOMATIC FAIL if you're seen. Great way to absolutely destroy awesome source material. FAIL.
I want my dollar back. With interest.
EDIT: You can see how upset I was with this game because I'm not one for spamming the caps. It really is that bad.

Daikatana... I bought it because I waited and waited for it to come out... I read the reviews... bought it anyways and damn if it wasn't a coaster 2 hours later.weirjf
LOLcakes. I picked up the N64 version at Blockbuster on sale for something around $15. Waste of every penny.

Umm... If they abandoned it why are there 2 patches? Also I have played Crysis through twice now and haven't had a single problem.Seems like alot of people took the thread and made it bash their poor judgment rant. Well see, it's the same case here ;) you consider those games broken.
I love them especially Crusader, and i liked Meat Puppets a lot, and I hate, maybe, some of the games you like. That doesn't make you more right, or me, it's subjective.
hellagte london - everyone told me it was bad, reviews also told so and i also felt it was going to be bad, but i still bought itnaval
Lies! Hellgate is a great game! Unless you were expecting some kind of RPG. I mean, it was supposed to be a Diablo clone. That was the point.

it was one of the lamest diablo clones. really reptitive quests- fetch this or kill x of y, bad character levelling, uninteresting items, uninteresting locations etc
This thread makes no sense - the question is the worst game you ever bought, against all advice - but many, perhaps most of the games listed in this thread had high scores and are extremely well respected. That would mean the reviews and general advice of the community would be to buy them, so you wouldn't be going against the reviews and advice.
We're talking about games that scored low and are generally disliked by the community that you went and bought anyway. For me, it's Starship Troopers (the FPS, not the RTS), and while it's as bad as the reviews say, I enjoyed it. There's something satisfying about slaughter giant arachnids, no matter how rough around the edges the game is.
I suggest this thread be fired out of a cannon into the sun.
