Well battlefield 3 is coming up and it looks as if it will only go minimum and medium for most of us, So what make is your graphics card and what will you hope to play BF3 at? Mine is a Nvidia Geforce GT 340 and i hope to run it at atleast medium.

honestly, unless you are running a super low resolution, you will be lucky to manage low settings. :|

With my relitevely low resolution (1440x900) and hefty overclock, I'm thinking I should get around high settings.

You most likely will.. With my 4850 I am basically able to play 99% of the games out there at high or max settings.. The only game recently that has given me some problems is Witcher 2.. Outside of that.. Nothing really. Especially when your going to play at 720p.

I am jelly. Don't get me wrong, I love my 460, but my mobo is CF only, would love to have the option to throw in another card (without getting rid of my current).

Two 6970s. I'm hoping to get everything maxed out at 1920x1080. I might try 6000x1080 just for ****s and giggles, but I'm really not expecting this game to run well at any resolutions above 1920x1080 without tri-SLI/CFX, and even then I'll probably have to wait a generation or two for a decently priced setup to come out that can do BF3 at 3x1 eyefinity.

Radeon HD 4600. It does its job decently, but I am looking to upgrade it soon. The 5570 has caught my eye. It seems to be a very solid card from the reviews I've read and from its benchmarks too.

Dude, 5570 is not a gaming card, and will turn BF3 into a slideshow. Your current card is probably better.

Radeon HD 4300/4500 series Athlon 64x2 dual core processor 4200+ 2.2 ghz 2048MB RAM Well, I plan on upgrading my motherboard, Processor and GPU. I've got 200 bucks to spare.

Asus 4870 1GB I dont think ill upgrade this GPU just for BF 3. Ill upgrade my PC as a whole when new gen consoles arrive and most game starting to be really demanding. Which i have like 1 -2 years left. I bought this card and my rig also 5 years ago + 2 for next gen = 7 years of PC gaming. More than enough for a 800$$ rig

Unfortunately, you will pretty much need a system overhaul to get defecent graphics and framerate in BF3. Assuming you have a decent 500W+ PSU, you would be looking at ~$350 for a motherboard, CPU, RAM and GPU that will give you a decent experience in BF3.

Ah, crap :( Well, do you have any recommendations for parts anyway? Even if they aren't enough to run BF3 at a decent rate.

So I played BF3 for about two hours and with everything completely maxed out (including vsync) at 1920x1080 I get 60-65 FPS outdoors, and anywhere from 120-200 FPS in the tunnels (yes, for some reason vsync doesn't limit you to 60 FPS in this game). Without vysnc on I think I was getting 100+ FPS outdoors as well. Considering that amount of over-performance you would think I would have no trouble running everything maxed out in 6000x1080 as well, but instead I get about 35 FPS on default settings (a mix of medium, high, and ultra). So yeah, the hardware demands of this game have been really overblown. Granted though that tessellation and some of the lighting features aren't in the game yet, so that may damper performance quite a bit when released. Also, the game doesn't look as good maxed out as it did in the gameplay trailers. It almost looks as if I'm streaming it off youtube.

Graphic card is actually the easiest thing to install imo.. Just do a search on youtube.. There are hundreds of videos on that kind of stuff.

Seriously man, easy stuff. Just don't do it in socks on a carpet and make sure to ground yourself and unplug the pc. Other than that pop the case open, typically one screw is holding your current one in, unplug the power connections, pull it out, put new one in and reverse order. I like to have a set of updated drivers downloaded to my pc before I make the swap rather than screwing around with outdated cd drivers packaged with card.

Like the other post said, youtube is your friend.
