hey i know mostly know but if any1 doesnt want to WAIT for shipping and stuff and just wants to download FAST and get it atari has the european version in digital download for 49 euros ,,you can buy it here

I'm importing it from the UK but any European version is a good buy. It's a perfect example of voting with your wallet, uncensored version over the North American version. I want the game the developers made not the game the ESRB thinks we should play. There needs to be a another rating between Mature and AO (AO is usually considered a porn label by retailers), why do they keep forcing games into the teenage age group? We all grow up and whats wrong with adult themed games? As in adult issues, which include violence and sex but not in a gratuitous way.

:D it's not about nudity or some white haired character and his sex life. It's about buying a game that the developers made, not one that a third party(esrb) changed to suit it's needs.

Do you realize that 49 euro is like around 70 USD? Im getting my hardcopy imported from gogamer.com for 49 USD and I got email it shipped today so =PDethZero

I just cancelled my pre-order with Amazon.com and ordered it from gogamer.com instead. I figure if I can get the EU version for the same price as the US version it's worth it. Heck the shipping charge using USPS Priority mail was cheaper than the tax if I got it through amazon.com

I think you've got it a little twisted. It's not that retailers should sell AO games, it's that the ESRB needs to realize that Mature = Restricted. From what I've heard of The Witcher having in it, it sounds like something with pretty averagely R-rated content, if it were in a movie. M and R both have the same restriction - 17+ - so the content that goes into both ratings should be the same. The uncut version of The Witcher should be more than mild enough to get an M rating.

Games are modified EVERYDAY for different markets and platforms I don't see why Witcher is getting special attention and the word 'censorship' is being thrown so easily OTHER THAN the fact we are talking about some nipples!

So yes, it is about the nipple and sex. If this was about a small dog or flower, people would not even bother.

the problem isnt with the rating its with the people who sell it. the person that said there needs to be another rating between teen and AO is right. some games are basicaly porn games (though rare like leasure suit larry comes too mind off hand) and do need a special class of their ownbut the vast majority of AO games have nothing to do with sex and are no worse or better than an R rated movie.

i dont understand why stores like wal-mart would stock copys of a movie like 'scar face' but not sell an AO game (like the GTA:SA that could have the hot coffie mod applyed). scar face makes GTA look like barney,

OK. Let us get our terms correct here. IT IS NOT CENSORSHIP since it is the company themself who decided to edit the material out. There was no government agency or ESRB peopl telling them to do it.

If the artist themself decide to change the work, that is NOT censorship. Please check the meaning before you use the word. No one is limiting your choice since there was no choice to begin with.

NCIX and Direct Canada should have the uncensored version soon. I bought my copy last week from Direct Canada.

The language is in tact, the blurry sex scenes are the same, the only difference is that when you have sex with females the card you are awarded has no nipples showing. Thats's it.

I think the problem with majority of the people in this topic is the fact that cencorship should be a personal thing, I mean no one else should decide what to cencure except the users themselves. I don't think they really care about the photoes.

to the person who said its not censorship. i think you need to understand the concept a bit more. no video games are actualy censored by your logic since all the games are changed by the companys that make them. but its the REASON for that change in wich the censorship lies. meaning that if they DONT change or self-censor their games then they get a rating that will in effect ban their games from being sold anyplace but the web. since ALL major (and most minor)retail outlets wont sell AO games.

you are correct that its the companys that censor themselves , but its only due to 3rd party rules that they do. otherwise why would they go to all the trouble to create the content in the first place if they didnt intend for it to be seen by the end user? they didnt just wake up one morning and say 'ohh, well we spent 400+ hrs making all these sex related content,but i think we will now remove them from the game for no reason what so ever'.

I'm just quoting you because you've obviously put some thought into this. I didn't want to straight out bump your comment...you make some good points.

Anyway, I bought the EU version mainly because I wanted the collector's edition with the artbook. My second reason was because I didn't want an overtly censored game. Yeah, only the nipples were censored, which is silly. If you're seeing a woman's animated breast, what difference does a nipple make? It's not going to make much of a difference. It's far less offensive than what 70% (I just pulled that percentage out of the air - I don't know what the actual percentage is) of internet commerce is based upon, if that's what people are concerned with.

And on the record, I don't think a woman's body is offensive. Woman are amazing. It's in the context of which things are presented that nudity has the potential of being offensive. If you show a woman walking around on all fours, wearing nothing but panties and a dog-leash while guys in a room are drinking beer and laughing about it, then yeah...that's really degrading and disrespectful of women and will give subjective youths the wrong ideas.

The idea that the Witcher character roams around and can have sex with women via small talk and bribes is a little misogynistic. But the fact that the character is able to collect animated cards depicting women bearing nakedbreasts is hardly offensive, especially considering that fact that the game is rated M, or 18 in Europe.
