I use a Syncmaster T260 atm, I really like it but I keep seeing posts on forums about 1440p being loads better than 1200p. Is it?

Also whats with these korean Yamakasi's. Anyone got one they can review for me. Any links for reputable sellers?

Any specific monitor suggestions?
Budget up to £300 maybe more ( you don't get rich by spending money! )

Also 27 inch is about all I can fit in my little alcove.

That is all :)

1440p looks damn good. And it will be a big upgrade from 1200p. It will also be wider, though. 1200p is a 16:10 aspect ratio, I believe (1920x1200, right?)  1440p is 16:9, so it's the same shape as 1080p, just with a lot more pixels. 2560x1440. That's a lot of pixels. :P

I'm toying with the idea of a hi-resolution monitor myself now that I'll have 2x Titan. We have 1440p monitors in the game room of the University where I teach and they look amazing. The only thing holding me back is that I think I'll miss my HDTV's large screen size. Also, I wouldn't know where to sit it, as I wouldn't want to give up my. 7.1 stereo system. But if you are used to playing on monitors I'd say its a no-brainer since you have 2x 680. I'd say go for it.

I'm going to be buying 2 1440p monitors for my next rig, currently looking at Dell Ultrasharp U2713HM, although they are just over £400 so possibly out of your budget.

I did look at that seller. Did you have and dead/stuck pixels? I don't like that they consider under 20 ok

I have had a Catleap for about a year now and have had no problems at all with it. The only downside of them is that the stands that it comes weith are pretty flimsy and getting is wallmounted is a chore. There is a picture guide on overclock.net about how to wall mount it but it requires removing the bezel and I don't trust my handywqork enough to go about doing it.

The pixels are so small that even if there are some dead pixels, there is no way you would actually be able to tell unless you were looking for it. The one I got did not have any dead pixels at all.

You can pay about $30 extra and theyll pick one out for you that is guaranteed to have no dead/stuck pixels

Another option could be a Apple Cinema Display or Thunderbolt Display on Craigslist.

I payed $600 for minw, it has absolutely zero scuffs or even faint scratches.   You will most likely go to the owners house to check it out,  so you can quality control it yourself before you buy..

I might have just purchased a Korean 1440p Monitor,  but I see to many reports about a slight or noticable even buzz/humm when displaying a white background.

Nope, I ordered it on a Sunday and got it the following Tuesday. Btw I live in the US just for reference.

Supposely the crossover has the best/better shell and stand build quality so you may want to check up on those.

Why would you go dual-680 at 1200p?

I'm really surprised by the lack of 1440p monitors here, especially given how cheap they are.

Yup or you could go 2560x1600 so you get 16:10. There aren't many 1600p monitors and like 1200p, they won't make many following their extinction. I love 16:10. :(

680 sli at 1200p is absolutely fine. Games like The Witcher 2 and Crysis 3, or even maxed out Hitman Absolution, BF3 at 120hz maxed out will make full use of them. Now, Titan sli at 1200p would be a little crazy.

I'm pretty sure he isn't using a 120 Hz monitor, but could be wrong.

Korean 1440P monitors!MonsieurX
That's a big gamble. MUUUCH cheaper, and if you happen to get a flawless one you get a very good deal. If you get one with bad pixels then too bad. I've been using the Dell U2711 for almost half a year, and I must say it is the best (and most expensive) monitor I have ever used. Just make sure your computer is powerful enough to support games maxed out at 1440p, otherwise your money could be better spent on internal upgrades.

No clue but yeah, you are right in terms of "what would be the better choice." ofc the 1440p or 1600p would be better for 680 sli, I won't disagree, but at 1200p.. it's not too overkill for "certain" games that are demanding. Maybe something like 670sli would seem more fitting for 1200p. :)

You can almost get two K monitors for the price of one ultrasharp so  theres your insurance there and in the best case you end with two working ones.

how are the response times on these monitor?  I want to get them but they all seem to have 5ms response times.  To my knowledge slow response times mean input lag.  Input lag is no bueno for gaming.  How do these monitors perform other than pretty images?

I almost bought that panel. But in the end I felt like I needed to go "name brand" because of warranty issues and user reviews I read. I'm glad you like it though. My only regret, which is a minor one, is going with the gtx 690 instead of sli 4 gb 670 or 680's. That resolution is a monster in some games.

That's why I went for them in case I get a 2560x1440 or 2560x1600 display, which I should be getting one a few months from now.

My last monitor was 5ms, this is apparently 6ms. I've played crysis 3, arma 3, bf3, farcry 3 and not noticed any ghosting.

Even though I got a 1200P monitor not so long ago, I am kinda jealous. It looks really good from that one picture. Personally I won't upgrade to a bigger monitor for another few years as I need a lot more GPU horsepower to run games at that resolution. hopefully 1600P is still around, although I got a feeling it will 3200P by the time I upgrade

These pictures don't really do i justice. It's just reminds me of going from Amiga to PC, two words I have running round my head are clarity and fidelity. My mate just bought a 120Hz 1080p TN monitor I'm taking my rig and monitor round to his at the weekend to show it off, I wonder what is best..?

Depends on your needs. I find 120hz to be best because of the overall super-smoothness especially for online gaming. I wish there was a 1200p 120hz monitor though but that would be a dreamer's dream.

A 1600 screen would I'm sure look lovely but I think it would be unnecessary. You'll be v pleased with 1440.

[QUOTE="acanofcoke"]The more I use this monitor the better it looks, anyone on the fence about getting one.....go for it.acanofcoke

I would go for this or a 1600p monitor, trying to make up my mind in the next few months.

A 1600 screen would I'm sure look lovely but I think it would be unnecessary. You'll be v pleased with 1440.

Hmm I should make a thread on it.=p

For people who have bought a Korean 1440P, do you have to pay a fee to customs on top of the actual price?
