Strange issues with Steam AND Origin

So I got home and decided to play some Battlefield 4. I launched Origin, but it brings up the screen where I would login, only it constantly shows the loading circle and doesn't actually launch. Thinking, "Hey, it's Origin, they're probably having problems," I brought up Steam (which was already logged in and open) to install and play one of the games I just bought in the sale. It did the whole "Preparing files for install" thing but after a few minutes told me it couldn't install because there was no internet connection. I opened Firefox and loaded a few Youtube videos to make sure I was (I am) and tried again. Same thing. I exited Steam and tried to reopen it. The window "Connecting to: (Account Name)" popped up and then...nothing. So Steam and Origin are both doing the exact same thing.

I tried resetting my modem despite the fact that I am clearly connected, and that did nothing. I even uninstalled and reinstalled Origin, to no avail. I tried turning off my firewall, and that didn't help. I'm at a loss. What could be going on?

Mines doing the exact same thing, haven't checked origin.It's funny because I changed my server destination and right after i restarted it started having issues. Thought it might have been related but apparently not.

Possibly more DDOS crap?

Both Steam and Origin are doing it for me as well, which is very strange.

Stupid hackers really need to get a life.

@danjammer69: Ok, so Steam is working again now and installing my game. Origin still isn't. Still no idea what's happening. If it's happening to a lot of people I guess DDOS is a possibility. Who knows?

EDIT: Hey, Origin came up too! But it says the Origin Login service is unavailable. I tried to login in anyways, and it's doing the same circle and moving dot thing.

Can't get to the Steam website either.

It's back up for me again too. That was weird.

Well I was just jumping to conclusions with the DDOS thing there, but it is kinda weird that they would both be down at the same time like that.

Origin is down for me as well. Started happening about an hour and a half ago. Steam is up, though.

I assumed it was some kind of outage due to the snow storm the Northeast is having.

Guessing the hack group DERP is at it again, wish they would do DDOS something else.

Origin is back up.

The BF4 servers are not, though. :/

Are any of you guys using AT&T internet, and/or living in a US west coast state?

Bunch of kids that hate gaming and have a bad social life. I assume gamespot was targeted as well?

But i am positive they would be arrested soon.

steam is still having issues on my end

Yep steam has experienced a DDOS attack and is down for the time being. What a shame to. I finished installing Far Cry 3 last night and was looking forward to playing it after work today. Alas that won't be the case until these asshat hackers go find a hobby that isn't idiotic.

Just checked and both are working fine for me.

Yep looks like everything's back up to normal. Hopefully it stays that way.
