Hey TC, you should look into TRINE. Its a really great side-scroller game that is almost puzzle-like in a lot of ways. 3 different characters with different abilities (you can switch between them as you wish). You have to use the character's different skills to advance past traps and beat the enemies. I played it co-op with a friend and it was awesome. We were local co-op on the same computer so I'm not sure if it has online mode though.

It does not have online co-op. Sadly.
Additionally, Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress 2, Counter Strike Source. All good games to get someone into gaming. Counter Strike Source got me into it.
You could also try giving Lord of the Rings Online a shot. It's free-to-play so there's really not a lot to lose and quite a few couples seem to enjoy playing MMORPGs together.
dont you think ive tried the search? there are plenty of co op games on steam just wanted to know which would be kool to play dont wanna but something horrible

After my girlfriend and I played some Titan Quest Gold together last night, I must recommend it again, It is fantastic for LAN. (like an updated Diablo 2, but slightly different) We had a great time, but we started getting sleepy so we had to call it a night, But the game is fantastic Co-op.
alright ill get titans quest and worms but im not sure if mine or her laptops will be able to run titans quest looks kinda heavy duty on the graphics card. i have an alien ware laptop so i might do fine but what about her?

Not sure, the game did come out 2006 and expansion in 2007 if I remember correctly, So she might be able to run it, but prolly not too well. Though I don't know what all she has in her laptop so I can't say for sure.
Runs fine maxed out on both of our rigs at 1680x1050, hers is the lower end one with a dual core amd 6000+ 3ghz processor, 2 gigs of ram, and an hd3870, with vista, (plays very smooth for her),

If you're getting them from Steam they list system requirements. Compare them to her laptop before you buy. You can always come back here and ask if you're not sure if she'll be able to run them or not. :)

So either you need to update the driver, update your DirectX, or you need a new video card. Hopefully one of the first two. :)
thanks ill prob get a new video card i feel like i need one. okay well thanks all wow 4 pages ha ive made up my mind and im getting worms lol just a casual game i never said she was that hardcore of gamer to play left 4 dead or anything of the sort. but thanks appreciate the help
