Yeah Just Cause 2 looks beast... I have never even played the original and I am not even remotely interested in it, but Just Cause 2 looks like a day one buy for me...
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......... I liked Crysis warhead more than the original Crysis RE5 is way better than RE4 ( PC Versions )Dark_prince123
despite being in a PC Forum its still tough to say RE5 is better than RE4. Have you not played the GC or Wii version of RE4? Brilliant game.

Personally, I really wish that there would be a Wing Commander: Armada 2...just thinking about that game using a current-gen engine, the availability of broadband internet, and multi-core processors makes me as giddy as a schoolgirl.
-fallout 2, the first one was kinda borring for me.
-quake 2, was much more immersive
-Doom2 was also better than the first
-Oblivion and i dont care what you think.
-jedi knight 2
-alien versus predator 2
-red faction 2 (because i think so)
-Graw 2 was more playable than the first
-rainbow six vegas 2 was better than the first but it didnt blow away the first i just didnt expect it to be better.
-system shock 2

Halflife 2

So you think its funny eh?
What about you? half life and max payne were so much better than the sequels, so i guess just because i think otherwise am gonna ROLF with your post too.
seriously what happen to opinions?
'Blew Away' are strong words, and I can't really think of any sequels that stomped all over their predecessors, except perhaps Return To Castle Wolfenstein. Some sequels were obviously better looking and more technically proficient, but sometimes fell short in terms of story or longevity. Anyway, some games that I feel were 'better' than their predecessors include:
Half-Life 2
System Shock 2
Aliens vs Predator 2
Age Of Empires II
Return To Castle Wolfenstein
Duke Nukem 3D
Eye Of The Beholder II
Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II
Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield and Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear
SWAT 3
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
Ultima Underworld II
Cossacks: The Art Of War
FEAR 2
Gothic II
Heretic II
Max Payne 2
Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time
And the controversial ones:
Fallout 3. Yes, I've played the original Fallout (in fact, I'm replaying it as I'm playing Fallout 3), and I have to be honest, I find Fallout 3 more immersive and engaging. I think the devs really managed to nail the atmosphere, and retain most of the elements of the preceding games.
Quake IV. It didn't do anything really innovative when compared to other FPS games, but I do feel it was a better experience than it's direct sequel Quake 2 (which is the only valid comparison, because it was a continuation of the Stroggos story line, and nothing to do with Quake 3).

HL2 and MP2 didnt exactly blow away their prequals but calling Farcry 2 (which flopped so bad) better than the original is quite a stretch. Opinons, eg there are people that didnt like the first one because it was linear, so they liked the second game more. But i guess we cant have an opinion. For example if you check Robert post you will see that he didnt like crysis as much as he liked far cry and he thinks that fallout 3 is a better sequel than the previous fallout games and that quake 4 was actually better than all the previous.

I was wondering when Morrowind was gonna get some love.
[QUOTE="biggest_loser"]Half-Life 2 and the Episodesdakan45I really dont understand why some people prefer hl2 over the first. Well, I love them both just as much but I think HL2 is a better-built game. It doesn't have those dryspells like "On a Rail" and the Xen levels, and it changes things up quite masterfully. On the other hand, though, "Apprehension" > "We Don't Go to Ravenholm"

Well, I love them both just as much but I think HL2 is a better-built game. It doesn't have those dryspells like "On a Rail" and the Xen levels, and it changes things up quite masterfully. On the other hand, though, "Apprehension" > "We Don't Go to Ravenholm" Ask me after we dont go to ravenholm i started to miss human enemies and i felt the level design was starting to get inferior and everything slowly decent in quality, while i share that rails sequences are not nice and hl2 had cool ideas and had that vehicle, i think that the respawning antlions and the overuse of respawning combine enemies latter on kinda killed the game for me, especially that part with the ruined city the walker tripods whatever are called....was not done done right. It felt rushed while both episodes have much better levels and vechicles sequences and helicopter fights. The truth is that still sometimes it felt repettive for example the respawning enemies you got to kil in nova prospeklt or cruise around in episode3 and kill walkers, or the long caves with the slugs in episode 3. Mainly hl2 and episodes started to feel like a grab and throw with the gravity gun rather a fps, and the respawning enemies and the very limited ammo capacity that force you to open th boxes that spawn ammo, made the game like a bunch mini objectives, like kill those respawning enemies and solve that puzzle instead of a fps full of action and diffirent situations like the first. Hl2 felt that way till you reach the black mesa east, then you get the gravity gun and the combine massacre was over :( For some reason it required less fps skill and more thought to solve puzzles. Eg why cany i destroy those damn turrets wiht my gun like hl1? Basicly they tried to make combat more challenging by adding more respawning enemies, which was unnesacary, al the had to do is to add the nice commandos form hl1 which had very good ai and were always fun to mess with, also why they are not many monster enemies like those green dog things in hl or something similar to thoe electric enemies? What happen to those nice tough monsters later on or to the tanks in hl1? For those reason i think hl1 was better... it was more of a fps that doesnt get old and fun combat, while hl2 has pretty simple combat and stops to ask you to solver a puzzle and then move on, its just doesnt capture the action of hl1 :(
Civilization 3
I actually thought Civ 3 wasn't all that much better than Civilization 2. "Player XXXX, the good-for-nothing" .... For some reason I don't have good memories about Civilization games :P[QUOTE="biggest_loser"]Half-Life 2 and the Episodesdakan45I really dont understand why some people prefer hl2 over the first. One peson said that, but anyway i belive fallout 3 is more engaging than fallout and tactics which were a bore without really drag you into progress the game further and force you to find the waterchip before the time runs out. Hoewever bethesda knows how to put epic parts in a story early to keep the player entairtained, like they dd with oblivion and fallout 3, in any case i think that fallout 3 is better than fallout tactics....but thats me :)I can't believe some of you ppl are saying fallout 3 is better then previous fallouts.
Okaayy, about this thread, I must say, I think diablo 2 completely COMPLETELY Smashed, destroyed, crashed and kicked daiblo 1.
