Really annoying. Max Payne 3. I asked about it on the Max Payne 3 Steam message board, but no one can help me.

Again and again, the game goes to the pause menu as if I'm pressing the Escape button. I've tried removing all USB devices except for my mouse and keyboard and uninstalled a bunch of unnecessary programs. Nothing has worked. I'm asking here because I'm hoping that this happens in other games and has a known solution.

Same shit happened to me the entire time playing that game. Really common issue. I just got really fast at unpausing and powered through. Not likely to play another rockstar game on pc again tho. That’s some terribly lazy porting right there.

@ezekiel43:

Click on Start and type "services" at the prompt, to bring up the Component Services window. Click on "Services (Local)", and then find "Volume Shadow Copy" in the list. Right click on it, select "Properties", check the "General" tab, and click on the drop-down box labeled "Startup Type". Select "Disabled" from the list. "Apply" and "Ok" to close the window. Right click on "Volume Shadow Copy" again and select "stop".

Close the Component Services window and open your task manager. Click on "Show Processes from All Users" at the bottom, then scroll through the list and check to see if a process called "VSSC.exe" is running. If it is, terminate it.
