Nvidia GTX 1660Ti reviews are up and probably the best mid-range GPU entry to PC!

The reviews are live and underway. Taken from PC Gamer GTX 1660Ti review it's a pretty good mid-range GPU for those who are cool with 1080p/60fps ultra is the sweet spot making this gpu a good entry to the realm of PC gaming. Anyone with a 900 series would be a good start for an upgrade.

This looks like it might be the new 970, but I would rather look at a used (but still with warranty) 1070Ti for even less now (prices will drop in second hand market, thanks to the 1660Ti).

I dunno, it's certainly a good price for what you get. The Vega 56 is now the same price or cheaper (if you can find one in stock) and outperforms this (granted at more power draw) and has more VRAM; also, it's not a lot more to get a 1070TI, RX2060, Vega64

looks like a good card all right. if i was in the market for a card now then i think i would be going for this one. unless the RX 580 and 590 get a price cut they are in trouble. the vega 56 and 64 will also need to come down i think. it also pretty much renders the 2060 a bit useless unless you REALLY want the RTX stuff (i would wait for the 3000 series before taking the plunge on that though.).

as a current owner of an RX 580 though the only card i would consider upgrading to is a 2080ti. for anything else the leap in performance just isnt worth it at the moment for me (i tend to wait for big big jumps before upgrading. an extra 100% horsepower even is not enough to tempt me unless the price is quite low.). i will have to see how things look at the end of the year. I have a new 4K screen (my old one blew up) but a 4K gaming card the 4GB RX 580 certainly is not.

@osan0: i mean, you can get an 8GB rx580 for over $100 less right now. I'm not sure the two are really in competition, but that's a pretty screaming deal of you want to do 1080p gaming

Card is in a weird tier.

1060/580 are called "1080p cards" yet this card can't quite get the "1440p card" coin even though it's like 40% faster than both of those 1080p cards.

It's kinda overkill for 1080p but I wouldn't necessarly say that isn't a 1440p card (there's probably very few games that it can't hit regular high settings 60fps and a good chunk of recent titles it can hit very high 60fps)

@mastershake575: It is not overkill for 1080p Ultra and neither is a GTX 1070 which is what it most closely matches.

It's not even strong enough to be worth upgrading from 580/1060 but wow, this card was designed to destroy the 590. Much lower power usage and better performance for same price. I don't know why Nvidia even bothered the 590 was a bad buy since day 1. This isn't really overkilled but I can definitely say it's better for 1080p/144Hz in that line.

I'm not able to watch the video right now. But I'm guessing by your comment that the 1660Ti isn't good for 1440p? I still have the GTX 1060 6GB and I really want to upgrade to play my games in 1440p and I was really hoping that the 1660 would be good for it. Sadly I find that the RTX cards including the RTX 2060 is very expensive while the GTX 1660 actually has a decent price.

GTX 1660 Ti is basically the same performance as a GTX 1070. I would not recommend a GTX 1070 for 1440p and therefore I can not recommend the GTX 1660 Ti for 1440p. I would go for a GTX 1070 Ti or Vega 56 as a minimum for 1440p. RTX 2060, Vega 64, and GTX 1080 are all better suited for 1440p. You may be able to buy a used GTX 1080 for a good price and you will be rockin' 1440p in style. :)

@BassMan: yeah I've been benching my Vega 64 today and it's a champ at 1440p.

I rarher buy the 2060. Sure some of the features like RTX is crap but hey its new tech.

I'm very disappointed that the 1660 Ti is much weaker then what I originally thought. I was hoping that it would be almost as powerful as a RTX 2060 but without ray tracing in it so that it would be much cheaper to buy. I'm planning to build a new PC in over two years and I was hoping to buy an affordable video card to continue to run games in 1440p for another two more years. Sadly the GTX 1070 Ti and the 1080 are still expensive for me. I really wish that Nvidia would start dropping the prices for their older cards I mean the GTX 10 series is almost three years old now and in Canada they are still very pricey. Anyways thanks for trying to help me out.

@AcidTango: 10xx series are out of production so the new cards still on sale will never get cheaper at this point.

@AcidTango: I am in Canada too (Vancouver) and I know about the expensive pricing. I spent $1600 before tax for my RTX 2080 Ti when it came out. You should seriously look into buying a used GTX 1080. They are going for around $500 and it is a very good card that has similar performance to an RTX 2070.

@xantufrog: the RX 580 is a nice ol card and the new prices are certainly quite good. it would certainly be my second choice if i was on a really tight budget.

but the benchmarks i saw...i think the improvement in the 1660ti is enough to warrant the extra even for 1080P gaming. if i currently had something like a 7970 or GTX 780 and was looking to upgrade i would be looking at the 1660Ti more. the extra power will help it even at 1080P over time.

in saying that though i just looked at my local online retailer (i'm in ireland) and the vega 56 has come down quite a bit. MSI have released an air boots vega 56 for £250. assuming that not a mistake that basically kills the RX590 (there is £10 in the differences...why go for the 590?) and its a solid answer to the 1660Ti.

nice to have the choice there.

It might be good for performance/dollar, but why would anyone want that jet engine in their PC?

Could this card handle my 24" monitor running at 1920x1080? Sh*t gets real at that rez.

I know multiple people that run 1440p with the 1070 and it runs good. Almost every game there getting at least 85% of the base setting all the way up with good frames.

The 290x/970/1060 are called perfect mainstream 1080p cards yet this card (1660ti) will literally offer the same performance/settings at 1440p as these cards will at 1080p........

That's my point. For most people it will be be overkill for 1080p but for more casual people it's enough for 1440p

@rmpumper: i just bought a vega 64 one and it's about the same volume as my gtx970 and runs cooler...

Certainly uses more power, but it's not that bad on the noise front. Certainly no 3-fan low rpm setup, but it's cheaper than one too. I had an r7 260x that was about this loud too

Yeah sadly we fellow Canadians will just have to accept that video cards are going to be more expensive for us then compared to the American prices. I will go for the RTX 2060 then. I know that you recommend that I buy a used 1080 but the problem is where I live (which is almost a hour away from Toronto) there isn't any used cheaper GTX 1080 that I can buy so I will go for the RTX 2060 instead. Do you still think that it's a good card for 1440p or do you recommend getting something better?

@AcidTango: Buy as good as you can afford, but the RTX 2060 is no slouch at 1440p.

I wasn't just talking about the RTX 2080. Even the cost of a mid range card in Canada is very pricey. But I shouldn't blame Nvidia for this since the Canadian dollar is plummeting.

@xantufrog: I guess. I had a blower GTX 680 that people said to stay away from due to its noise and had absolutely no issues with it AND it overclocked pretty well... I find it funny how people wan't quiet components but then praise mechanical keyboards.

Prices depend on country and store, i.e. overclockers.co.uk are selling the blower style 56 for 250 GBP and Sapphire Pulse for 280, while the 1660Tis start at 260.

A German store notebooksbilliger.de is selling both the 1660Ti and 56 Strix versions for 350 EUR.

The marketing/branding branches of companies make my head hurt.

meh, I have a 1070gtx oc 8gb and it does the job... I would get an 8gb card and skip this 1660ti 6gb from the prices ive seen as of today.... even for a budget build
