Mafia
Not my favorite game ever, but loved the ending.Â

MGS3's ending is the best ive seen in any game, and also in many movies. Its so cinimatic and deep... well, you get the idea. After all Hideo Kojima orignally wanted to be a film director, and you definatly notice movie-like quality in his cinimatics. Best ending EVER, even though its rather long if you include the boss-fight monologe before you fight the final boss (clocks in around 1hr and 30 min I think of ending footage).KorJaxIll second that also!!! MGS3 is one of the greatest achievements in gaming ever and I cannot wait for MGS4, keep it going Konami and do not ruin teh franchise ever please!
You guy are all wrong, WoW got the best ending. Why? Because once you stop it, you are rewarded with a life!!! best game ever.Franko_3LOL best defense for WoW's ending in thsi thread!!! :)
Fallout and Mafia probably tie for the best endings, simply cause they are great endings that take you completely by surprise.
The Longest Journey and Grim Fandango are two adventure games that had good endings.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time also had a great ending, even if it had never gotten a sequel, the ending to Sands of Time would have been a good enough closure.
Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones and Silent Hill 3 also have great endings in that they both deliver good closure the storyline of the first game in each of their series, and they also both bring the series full circle while properly wrapping them up.
Max Payne 2 also had a good ending, even if we never get Max Payne 3, at least the series ended well.
Not a PC game, but Ico for PS2 also has a really good ending.
Fallout 2. Did they actually escaped the oil rig? We don't know...Nerfing
If you actually beat the game they did.
I'm surprised so many people are saying The Longest Journey, I mean:
 *spoilers*
The end is essentially "Oh, wait! You're NOT the next guardian. Huh... go figure. Well, you're free to go home... you arn't? The police are after you, your best friend got shot and alot of people are blaming you, not to mention your father is abusive so you can't go to your parents either... welllll... guess you're screwed. THE END!"
*Spoilers end*
No wonder April Ryan is so gloomy in Dreamfall. Her life is just a series of falls that get worse and worse. Anyway, back to the topic.
Great endings? Baldur's Gate series has always had satisfying endings. Sarevoks death, following Irenicus into hell itself, and the final battle for the Throne of a fallen god. You can't get much more epic than that!Â
Hitman Blood Money. Seriously, probably the most cleverly implemented ending I have seen in a game. Qixote
Yeah, I loved the ending to Hitman. However, it took quite some time to beat, but none the less satisfying. I also, like the ending to KoToR I, although a few of my questions were unanswered.
In Condemned Criminal Origins, I loved the boss fight with Hate. It was fun kicking the **** out of him but the ending made me double stare.
Oblivion had a fairly cool ending, with the main quest anyways. Monsters and guards killing each other all of the place... sweet.
Well, for me it would have to be the KOTOR games (1 more than 2, mainly cause 1 was so awesome and the 2nd had a ending that wasn't really fleshed out enough) and also I'd have to say that i loved the ending to Baldur's Gate 2 and the expansion. That was awesome on an epic scale.
Well Some of the ones that i most liked were...
POP SoT and 2 thrones because i love how everything becomes full circle, Mafia, Thief: Deadly shadows, FEAR, Final Fantasy 8, X is also very good, Max Payne 1
After reading the title of this topic the first thing that came to my mind was PoP, and seeing how majority of you seem to share this view, this must be the best ending ever XD. If i had to make a distinction between its three parts i would say TTT, for the way it wraps the whole story, and gives a sense of fulfillment (which is getting pretty rare this days in games).
There is a whole lot of games that could pottentially have great endings (ie HF2, Dreamfall) but their developers prefer to keep far too many questions unanwsered so they have more possible plot lines later on, which gives a feeling - oh my, the end?? wtf, i dont even know why i just did that, or what did i save them from, WTF!!! (;p).
[QUOTE="carsonfb"]^^^ no we mean warcraft 3, a strategy game, not world of warcraft. i havent beaten dozens of games, but the best ending for me was splinter cell chaos theory. you did NOT expect for that certain character to die, im not gonna give it away but my jaw dropped. and how he slit the other splinter cells throat gave you a real feeling of great revenge for that certain character. but hey, at least i shot the badguy in the head! :D and i like how it just takes one shot to kill the big baddie like all the others, but of course the trouble is gettin your gun and gettin him in your line of sight before he blasts you.

I know you guys are talking about Warcraft 3 but WoW never ends therefore greatest ending of all time.
actually i think it worsens the game. too much repetition with no end goal other than getting more loot.
Â
anyway I like the ending to Starcraft. Â
Â
Chronicles of RiddickJack_Summersby
BINGO :)
also, for a more recent game, I really liked the second installment of The Longest Journey: Dreamfall , leads right into a third installment, hopefully taking much less time to come out.Â
