Ugh, not the Sands of Time. Superb game and all, and a great story, but the boss fight was weak. For me it's actually The Two Thrones. Zurvan is the best boss ever.

I wasn't really talking about the boss fight, but rather about the actual ending after it. "Kakolukia" and whatnot. It was just really a perfect ending to a good story.
BTW, how does WC3 have a good ending? The final cinematic was pretty lame; the biggest baddest demon lord gets killed by a bunch of wisps... :| _Memento_

Hmm yeah, that was pretty good, but without a climactic battle in the end it just feels a bit empty, which prevented it from being really satisfying.
I actually find very few game endings truly satisfying... Among those few i would have to say the endings of the Quest for Glory games, really old stuff but you really felt like the hero you were at the end. Also the ending of Thief: Deadly Shadows was, atleast for me, insanely satisfying. The way that the last game's ending matched the first games intro was just so... smart.
All the loose ends are tied up, each character is dealt with, there's a massive twist, the emotional impact is huge, and you get a cinematic that I swear was an hour long. Just breathtakingly well done.

Tiberian Sun NOD ending was pretty kewl, but then again, NOD is kewl. :)
Call me crazy, but I thought that ending movie in Neverwinter Nights 1 (the original campaign) was nice. "....But their story does not end here. For this is a world of infinite tales! New adventures still await and new legends have yet to be forged." Perfectly translates the spirit of the entire game, by which I mean also the Multiplayer and Toolset and Dungeon Master Client, because even though the OC was kinda lame, the rest made up for that. I'd trade a bit of mediocre gameplay for thousands of hours of quality RP and lots of building madness any day. :D The voice is cool too!
^^^ no we mean warcraft 3, a strategy game, not world of warcraft. i havent beaten dozens of games, but the best ending for me was splinter cell chaos theory. you did NOT expect for that certain character to die, im not gonna give it away but my jaw dropped. and how he slit the other splinter cells throat gave you a real feeling of great revenge for that certain character. but hey, at least i shot the badguy in the head! :D and i like how it just takes one shot to kill the big baddie like all the others, but of course the trouble is gettin your gun and gettin him in your line of sight before he blasts you.

I know you guys are talking about Warcraft 3 but WoW never ends therefore greatest ending of all time.:lol:
If I remember right, Final Fantasy 8 had an ending that really tied the story up well. Most other games kind of leave you hanging in case it hits off big so they can make a sequel...
Fallout 2 The ending varied depending upon the choices and alliances you made during the game. The same was done but not as effectively with Temple of Elemental Evil.

You preferred The Two Thrones' ending over The Sands of Time's? They're identical! I actually thought that TTT had one of the worst endings I've ever seen, as it was just a clone of SoT's ending (and a terrible way to end a great trilogy).

And so...painfully predictable. :P I literally picked that ending, word-for-word, a few months before the game came out - not that I thought that it was a bad ending; it was good, and it really was the only way that they could have ended it...thus it was obviously going to happen.
Anyway, my favourite game ending(s) were in Planescape: Torment - you could end the game in fourteen different ways, and most of them were fairly satisfying.
New Super Mario Bros! You know, the way you go giant and just stomp on bowser... EPIC!
Can I say World of Warcraft? I know its not technically an ending but its pretty satisfying knowing that after you reach max level there are all these new things for you to do!
2 awesome bossfights straight one after the other (one of which is a T-Rex!) then a cutscene of turok being chased by an explosion out of a flaming skyscraper! i loved it and it was very satisfying.

Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn (though Throne of Bhaal was good too) - man, how awesome is the battle with Irenicus in Suldanesslar (sp) and then following him down to hell to finish the job and reclaim your soul?!
I'm suprised at how little people said metal gear 3. Metal gear contains that great stealth feeling from stealth games, great shooting, while still mainting a emotionally involving storyline. The feeling how there are so many questions but slowly they all add up into huge twist with some of the best dialogue and cutscene in a video game ever are so amazing. The game truly is a masterpiece.

What about the ending to Half Life: Opposong Force? For Sheppard to go through all that just to get locked in an alternate dimension was a really twisted way to end a game - or an expansion pack, I guess.
