Grim Dawn - Ashes of Malmouth Expansion

I am considering buying the expansion but was wondering if the new environments can be access immediately?

I have not finished the main story from the base game, but would like to try to farm the new areas for items.

I don't know, but man the new classes are awesome.

you have to work up to the new area.
