for cs its like shift to jump, ctrl to duck, page down for flashlight, middle mouse button for reload, 1on the right number buttons for USE. Saying that though ive been playing oblivion with the wsad keys and im getting used to it. May try switching with CS but id suck for a while and i cant have that.

WASD for right-handed people... Arrow keys for left-handed people (they probably adapt to WASD though because space bar is so far away)

i do agree with the people who have their move keys in the middle of the keyboard though, gives more easily accessed options.

though i got used to it

Personally I use WASD but some people use ESDF, or TFGH just to get more keys at a hand.

I'm a RDFG man myself, coming from back in Quake days when I could assign a weapon to each key around it. Its just sort of stuck since then.

WASD is for pros...and arrow keys are for novices...keymaster7

Both are designed for easy learning. Strafe left and right on the left and right with forward and backward in the middle. Good layout for the BF2 pc at Bestbuy. Kinda like a keyboard laid out in alphabetical order. Easier at first but not great in the long run.

For most people, the ringfinger is more comfortable on the same horizontal row of keys as the middle finger. In the long run middle and ringfinger are best for strafe left and right with index for forward and backward.

While arrows offer more accessability for your pinky, your thumb wants to naturally rest an inch from the front of the kb. Wasd isnt much better since your thumb rests on the middle of the spacebar which still greatly limits key accessability. Pinky is at the edge of the kb so it cant reach many keys either.

Both control schemes suck.

I used to exclusively use arrow keys (mostly in MMOs). I thought WASD was uber confusing, etc til I started playing shooters and WASD was default control. That eventually carried over into MMOs and I reach for those keys upon instinct now

I started off using the arrow keys, and played with it for a while, but I did eventually make the switch when I didn't want to remap everything and was tired of running out of buttons. Honestly, WASD is simply -better- coming from someone who has used both quite a bit. You simply have more keys at your disposal and they are all closer.
