I've adapted to the WASD standard controls now.
The arrow keys don't really work in games where you have to lean, press the 'use' button, turn on flashlights, etc., as they're too far away from the other keys.

I started using arrow keys initially back in 1998 (Halflife). When Counterstrike 1.4 was released, I gave it a whirl, using arrow keys. It really frustrated me and didn't return to cs until 1.5 was released. That is when I forcibly taught myself to use WASD and now think there is no other way to play FPS :D

I use the arrow keys, but I'm seriously trying to adopt WASD. Every time I play I have to slide my keyboard further from the mouse, so I won't twist my arm :x

Then again, using Shift to jump, CTRL to duck and Del to realod just feels so natural...

Arrows keys and my number pad for other actions, prone, crouch etc. Purely because it's in easy reach and seems a nice layout for me personally.

I have big thick fingers..

So, i use the arrows and surrounding buttons. Ctrl, shift, enter, delete, end, num0.

My fingers trip over the other keys if i use wasd, just like my guitar. lol. :(

Prove it.

btw I use WASD, but it comes down to personal choice, you use what is most comfortable for you.

WASD is the standard these days, although the arrows + ctrl keys were once very useful

When I started, Arrow Keys. However, now that I'm using WASD, I'd never go back to arrow keys.

WASD keys, they are closer to all the different actions that are used in an FPS and for some odd reason when I use the arrow keys while playing a game which I use the mouse the controls at times can become unresponsive.

Standard WASD for Battlefield 2 because there are so many damn things required (when compared to most other FPS), i just left everything how it is. I use the arrow keys for every/most other FPS, with RCTRL, RSHIFT, Enter, Num 0 etc for different things... I can use both perfectly fine, however i am more adapt at using the arrow keys and the keys surrounding them.

Neither. I use a Nostromo 50 gamepad for my left hand. I program the D-pad for movement and the rest of the 10 keys for different game requirements. Smooth as silk.

wasd is a little more versatile, but i use arrow keys - i'm right handed, but i just find it far more comfortable

i think most people who use arrow keys are generally left handed, since it fits a little better

Yeah, I found that too, especailly on laptops, where there is no number pad, arrow keys suck (no offence.)

I use WASD...started doing that when I played coutner-strike 1.6 Like what some of you said, arrow keys aren't good when you have to use the flashlight, peek, crouch, or use keys. And WASD is a lot closer to other keys whereas the arrow keys aren't. I use arrow keys to play mini-games though. It's easier to play mini-games liek that becuase you only need those 4 or even less.... But most mini-games allows you to change the buttons and I usually stick with arrow keys unless there are other buttons need to be tapped frequently.

Heh, actually, my setup is kinda weird, I believe these were the standard keys in Duke Nukem 3D, but it could be that my bro changed them, no idea why he would though.

It's Forward : Right Mouse, Back: S(was actually an afterthought :P), Strafing: C+V. And then jump: A, crouch: Z and secondary fire: X.

I know, weird, but I'm kinda used to it by now. :)

I used to use the arrowkeys for games like Delta Force and IGI back when they came out, but have since adopted the W, A, S, D stance, when playing games like GRAW and Battlefield 2. That is, until you try to play a game with an asinine number of keys to memorize to effectively manuver your squad (pick any Rainbow Six game and insert here). Then it can be easier just to go back to the arrowkeys to keep your fingers closer to the go code keys.

WASD all the way.  It's the only way to play.
