PC motion game, can it be done? would you play it? or do you prefer keeping the pancake mix on the chair?

DanielDust
Motion is getting better and better. Now KINECT, controllers are not even needed anymore. I wish it would come to PC....specially for FITNESS, PARTY and DANCE games....they are great fun (specially with friends) and healty too.....can't go wrong.

You can, because, why would anyone do such a thing in front of a PC monitor? that's exactly why PC "games" don't need such a thing, because those are console games at most.

Lots of PC gamers use a TV.... But also, with advancements in motion technology..... FPS and other games could benefit from it...

Yep but, you did not mention games that would ever make their way on PCs, having such games defeats the purpose of having a PC, if those are the games you're into.

There simply is no way such a thing would be good on PCs, yeah hehehehe, cool gimmick, fun, interesting, meh gonna throw it into some dark corner for the years to come, would be cool, but you're "at" a PC when you play games and because of the monitor (even if it were a 32" screen) it's simply not a good experience, there's a missing link, we need to get rid of monitors too, then you can really talk about playing the games like you want and actually using those gadgets because games are simply better not because they're cool and you need to be cool too.

Anyway VR is faar faaaaar from reality, not glasses, those are just as uncomfortable as using glasses for 3D (difference is, some TVs already have integrated 3D capabilities, with VR it isn't as easy, a decent device for that is more like sci-fi for now).

My mouse is a million times more accurate than any current motion control device such as the Wii Mote or Playstation Move. There's just no reason to downgrade.

Yeah, I was mostly thinking about those dance and fitness games, you can't use a mouse with those..... I guess we need a motion equivalent for PC....

Have you played one of those games? They are really fun.... don't mock it till you try it, lol (jst joking) I am looking at buying XBOX+KINECT for the new Michael Jackson game.... (Tip: Dance Class and Gym are much more expensive than a $60-$90 game....)

That's the only kind of motion-anything I want for PC. Wiimote stuff would be good...if I didn't sit at my desk to play on PC. Kinect...no. Just...no.

Not sure what other games have independent head motion, but I would get that IR5 thing just to play ARMA 2; a game I had no interest in playing before that video lol.

That looks awkard though if you point your head extreme left or right you would be looking out of the corner of your eye (not comfortable) If someone builds a monitor on a track that moves with your head motion that would be amazing :D

Yeah, but you wouldn't have your head tilted/twisted in such a way for too long. Only to look around to get a better awareness of your surroundings, then your head will go back to front and center. Also, it appears you can adjust the sensitivity of movement. It is, indeed, and interesting device.

No for a couple of reasons:

1. Computers tend to be on a cramped desk, while consoles get the living room. Not enough room for motion controls.

2. Again, large TV, fairly small moniter. It'd be a pain to see what you're doing if you have to stand back.

3. I already have a Wii, why bother using motion controls that are going to only occasionally be implemented on a platform that already has a great control scheme? No point.

That's kind of silly considering that the monitor doesn't move with your head. It's really not that cool.

Really isn't because it wasn't designed for one monitor, the optimum experience for it is 3 and unlike using motion to control things, this piece of hardware is a groundbreaking evolution, for racing, FPS (especially simulators like ARMA) and flight simulators.

Assuming the tech catches up, why not?

Imagine controlling an RTS spread across several monitors using hand gestures. One monitor could serve as a minimap, too.

Imagine flying a ship in a space simulator with a joystick and hand gestures on the various knobs and flippers on your spaceship's dashboard.

Ok, maybe it's more "touchscreen" than "motion", but the idea is there. I also agree with the poster who said it would be good for PCs but, at the current stage not for PC games. It could boost your productivity a lot if you could do things like Ironman does on his computer in the movies.

I can't see it working with the PC, although that isn't stopping Hewlett-Packard and Razer from making their own peripherals.

Motion have their uses. People have to think outside the box though. Most people think it's just for dance and other casual stuff. It's actually quite useful if adapted for other genres. For flight sims, motion is useful for headtracking movements. In the real-world, that's like the classic HUD in jet fighters versus helmet-mounted ones. I heard (in the past) of "rumors" about US pilots getting creamed in wargames with foreign air forces using Soviet jets with helmet-mounted sights. That's why the US also developed their own.

In the case of flight sims, headtracking with motion provides a degree of realism. It allows you to swivel your head and look around while keeping the hands on the throttle and flight stick.

It's the same with ARMA2. Since when has the gun barrel been slaved to the direction my head is looking at? In the real world, I usually looked around while keeping the gun barrel pointed at the most likely direction of danger. They were independent of one another except in games.

I have no problem with motion gaming, as long as the game industry doesn't plan on incorporating into every game eventually. Motion gaming might be ideal to a particular market and some type of games. But for others, I just go with the "if it ain't broke" principle where most games are fine with the controllers they already have for their platform.

i would pass on that. it would be horribly implemented, it would be overpriced, and it wouldnt be worth it when you can get some sort of motion controlled peripheral for your game console (especially since all 3 of them have some form of it).

When the technology becomes more game friendly. Right now motion gaming is still inventing itself but im sure that one day every platform will have a form of motion gaming.
