I decided to try PC gaming just b/c I've heard alot. I play mainly PS3 (not a fanboy) and didn't know alot on PC builds. I used teksyndicates website on a $400 that would kill my PS3. So over the past month I gradually put extra money aside that I made from work so I could afford all the parts.

CPU: Intel Pentium G860 3.0GHz Dual-Core Processor
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H61MA-D3V Micro ATX  LGA1155 Motherboard
Memory: A-Data XPG Gaming Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Hard Drive: OCZ Agility 4 64GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon HD 6670 1GB Video Card
Case: Rosewill R218-P-BK-450W ATX Mid Tower Case w/450W Power Supply
Optical Drive: Sony AD-7280S-0B DVD/CD Writer

I then bought Mass Effect 3 on PC and compared it to my PS3 version. I wasnt really that impressed :/ The PC version was just brighter from I was seeing. Idk. I'm not really a graphics guy. Played the same on both. The only real difference was the loading screen times. But that doesn't bother me either. It was worth the shot though.......I'll keep the PC on hand for TF2, Counter Strike, Warframe, etc. Its still cool tho I guess. If anyone has any suggestions on parts to change out, please leave a note. I'm not willing to build a $1000 PC or anything though.

Not sure you'd see any major differences in a title like Mass Effect 3. Try Battlefield 3 or moded Crysis\GTA IV for the fun ;)

Well you're a graphics card and cpu upgrade from getting a good pc gaming machine.

That build was really to get the same/slightly better experience than a console.

Personally, rather than a pentium processor and 6670 I would have just gotten an A10 6800K.

You should buy crossfire 6950s on ebay(used) they come in about $100 each and they'll destroy the ps4 easily I'd assume.

You should have came here and made a thread about build options instead of following a random build off the internet. The people on this forum would have put together a way better gaming rig for only a little more money than that.

Dual-Core just isn't enough for newer games - at least I noticed a BIG difference going from a dual-core to a quad-core in Call of Duty: Black Ops, GTA IV, and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit (2010).

You didn't see a difference because you bought a crappy PC with 3 year old+ components, that even were mid-range at the time they were released. Metaphorically, you wanted to drive a modern super car and you bought a 01' Lotus Elise.

It's not that bad but main problem is you followed a build video that was made over a year ago. You can get better parts with careful planning today for around 400$. I came up with this in a few minutes of newegg browsing which would provide much better gaming performance.

400 usd build

...Ok now salvage that crap and buy a real (up to date) rig. Oh heck even the $400 rig with a 7770 would be a difference maker that you were looking for.

I hope you were using the same display.

Finally brought one of my console friend over to check out skyrim, lets just say he was pretty blown away already without mods yet, and heck I was running it off an old wd green drive external which is still faster than the ps3.

High settings, true 1080p or higher, and some mods will give you the pc experience. Pair up with your ps3 controller than its pretty much like playing a console on steroids w/crack.

You did "the-crap-I-bought-killed-my-wallet" build.  Next time, inform yourself properly and *then* buy, instead of the other way round.

6670 run better then a PS3 AFAIK but it it a Budget Card I know people with card like 8400GS those are nightmare : 7770 now day is around 100$ & LESS and that is a okay VIDEO CARD for Budget Gaming : i suposse 7750 Is okay too if you are going from Crap and have no money

Personally i wouldn't go with anything lower then an GTX 650 TI Boost but not everyone have that kind of money

I played mass effect 3 on PC with my 570 OC it look awesome with this Tweak http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/mass-effect-3-tweak-guide#7

But ur Card is Crap if you expected to max game : you have more power then a PS3 However and will clearly appear in game like Elder Scroll Series & Fallout Series to shine nice enough coming from someone that owned PS3 & Xbox 360 and also an average PC gamign witha  7600GT

Till i was owning something Stronger close to HD5870 minus the SSAA feature the 4870x2 i feel rip fof when i learned it wouldn't do SSAA for my mass effect 2 and various other game but i managed to live with MSAA

but then i owned a GTX 570 and went back to those game it was great :P It was like PS3 & Xbox 360 Biting the Dust In All Game possible with SSAO & SSAA or SMAA if the game too demanding like Borderland 2 and im not even sure XBOX One / PS4 have anything to match what i have Currently graphically before 2015

Well, the main difference is you can easily change out the parts of the PC and upgrade that way whereas on consoles, you'd have to wait for the "next generation" before you get anything new

Did you turn the settings and resolution up?

Either way it's a badly thought out build - only put money towards a SSD if you can actually afford a useful size and you already have decent other parts.

which idiotic site recommended that build?  An SSD, no HDD, a weak gpu like the 6670.  Im curious as to how that computer filled up a $400 budget.  Max id put it at retail is $300

Its outdated. It was teksyndicate as stated in the op, they have a youtube channel with Logan, hes fairly funny to watch used to be on tigerdirect's.

Not sure wtfbbq is with the ssd though, since the cpu is going to be slow down the load times anyway.

Mass Effect 3 stock uses same assest as console I believe and with a 6670 you aren't going to notice much if any difference in games that do have better graphics then consoles. You need a new gpu followed by a new cpu and you can get something that beats the PS4 let alone the PS3 although you should compare games that actually take advantage of PC hardware like Battlefield 3 or Crysis 3 altough thats vs PS3 for PS4 you need to compare next gen games. I would wait for the new AMD series to comeout later this year before upgrading though.

Yeah, I think the 6670 could compete with the 360/ps3, but not their successors . I have one in a media PC, combined with a Intel Pentium e5300. It does ok.

no, a more accurate description would be he built a prius expecting a corvette.  A first generation 2001 prius, the newer models are too good.  If all he did was get a normal hdd, and a better graphics card like a 6850, then his build could be compared to a corolla sports version.  Not the greatest, but enough to get the job done at 1080p settings and then some.

Ahhh yes..  I actually really like that pic.  That's a Neon R/T.  Those weren't all that fast, but they did handle very well and were fun to drive.  The gear ratios and suspension tuning were really good.  My best friend used to have one that exact color.  The SRT-4 on the other hand, was one fast little piece of sh!t.

A computer does more than a console can do so it makes sense that it would cost more to get the game gaming performance.

Nah..  A Camaro PC would be something with fairly nice specs, but in a huge, ugly case.  What he built was a Chevy Cobalt.. and not the SS version.

I think this neon & viper pict sums it up pretty well too.

Yep. Those SRT Neons had some torque. That one in that pic though....not so much.

You'd be surprised. Nothing dynamic or extreme, but pretty quick.

too bad the neons/cobalts had shtty reliability, otherwise theyd be solid choices as cars and had good fuel economy as well.

I had a black 04 SRT-4 for a couple of years.  The only performance modifications were an intake and cat-back exhaust.  It did the 1/4 mile in 13.7 @ 104.6mph, on street tires.  I had it up to 152mph on I-81 in northern PA one night.  There is a reason why those cars had that big spoiler on them.  :D  Really stupid move to do that on public roads, but it was fun!
