So how are the graphics in Black Ops 2? Was it really a leap from Modern Warfare 3, and does DX11 make that much of a difference from a comparative standpoint? Does anyone have any decent console vs PC comparisons they'd like to share?

In order to maintain 60 FPS on consoles, the graphics have to be pretty toned down. It still looks good though, I have no problems with it.
Best looking game in the series. Treyarch and IW use different engine branches.
BLOPS2 has the best faces in gaming except LA Noire. The levels are much bigger than before. It has a nice Bokeh filter and TXAA. It's very well optimised.
You can see the gigantic budget in every frame. There's an astonishing amount of varied art assets.
lol there's lot of truth in jakes gs profile "Some people just don't have opinions. Like jakes456."alan_carter
If you look back at his first posts here on GS, he wasn't anywhere near as bad as he is now, I wonder what happened.

I've never seen a rational post of him.[QUOTE="HyperWarlock"][QUOTE="alan_carter"]lol there's lot of truth in jakes gs profile "Some people just don't have opinions. Like jakes456."alan_carter

I've never seen a rational post of him. He hashes every game in every thread, its just an act. They just need to ban him already.Looks fine, they're games not movies. (Don't even play BO2 but I'm sure it's as good as BO1)8-Bitterness
Besides perhaps the zombies, it's better in every way.
Anyone who says it looks the same as before is flat out lying. The game is leaps and bounds better than the older CoDs, it's still a little rough compared to it's rivals but it is a huge improvement in the series and hard to think it's the same old engine. There are times when it looks really great. And this is coming from a guy who is a bit of a battlefield fandboy
Not only that but I never go below 100 fps in game and that's quite something. Makes it a pure joy to play

Thanks everyone for the honest replies. As for you, SeanMcloughlin, your reply meant the most, as I believe we're pretty familiar with each other and I'm well aware of your fanboyism, for you to offer anything decent about this game makes me rethink your character that I once questioned. You're obviously not as close minded as I thought you were. Thanks for that, I'll probably be picking it up in December, keep us up to date with the "hacking" situation until then, because it could make or break me.

Looks pretty darn good for an engine that is so old...

Don't be fooled. Like all Cods the objects and debris don't have pop to them, you can walk across pebbles on the floor and they would be flat.
They make the most $$ every year, but what puzzles me is where does all the budget go after marketting. I mean they don't have to create a new engine just slap on new textures to the old q3 and boom a new game. I guess it all went to Kotick and the owners, and didn't pay the workers the fair amount like the IW peeps that left. Alright I am just assuming, but seriously where does all the money go? All their games is 6 hours long for crying outloud plus all the extras $$ profit on DLC.

Their games are 6 hours long + the MP + Zombies. And Marketing is pretty expensive stuff....they go all out. They got Robert Downey Jr. for the commercial for example, him alone would have cost them a couple of million.[QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"]

Exactly. Anyone who's even remotely familiar with my posting here knows I was all about BF3 and hated anything CoD. But this one looked good and I decided to try it and i'm very pleasantly surprised. It looks great and plays great. Here are some of my shots to show the proper in game visuals, the DOF and character models are the highlight.

A huge amount of money goes into marketing and advertising. Just look at the people in their ads. Also they have to pay musicians to score it and Voice actors to voice it. And the voice actors are actual actors so they aren't cheap. Then they make really good special edition packs of the games.
There is a lot more that goes on besides just making the game. Maybe if they were to upgrade the engine they couldn't actually afford it cos all the money goes elsewhere so there is nothing left over to push the engine further. Could be they don't want to but assuming gets us nowhere.

I don't think any other engine that old has aged as gracefully as the CoD one, which makes the game look better each year with the same technology.FelipeInside
Are people not aware you can upgrade parts of the engine, which both IW and Treyarch have been doing, and that both of those teams use two seperate builds? It's not the same technology.

No, people are not aware. All I head is everyone saying, "It's the same ugly engine", blah blah blah. All they need to do is launch COD2 and play, then Blops2 and play and see if they come back and say the same.[QUOTE="FelipeInside"][QUOTE="somegtalover"] the same game with all the same re touched up textures. anyone who says its getting better hasn't stopped paying 60$ a year for the same game.somegtaloverSo FIFA13 is the same game with the same re touched up textures of FIFA08 ??? I don't play sports games but i've always looked at them that way anyways.. I'd rather go play NFL blitz on ps2 than any new madden.
And there you have it, that's the reason right there why so many people say it's all the same....cause they look at some gameplay footage and go "blah blah blah it's the same game blah blah blah"
I play every FIFA every year.... maybe for more than 100 hours and an average of 300+ games online. The difference between FIFA08 and FIFA13 are astronomical, even though it's still football.
Now, CoDs are similar between the versions...but if u play COD2 right now and then Black Ops 2, u'll see they are pretty different.
