I'm just wondering what's "the biggest mess" you've ever played. I'd have to go with Boiling Point because even with the first patch it was a totally unplayable mess. The second one would be Gothic 3 version 1.0.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky. But once you patch it and apply the Clear Sky Complete mod, it is smooth sailing.

I never had any problems with that level.

For me the biggest bug fest is Gothic 3 the game wouldnt even run if you had 4GB+ ram and some kind of memory leak caused the game to crash all the time.

hidden and dangerous, but I still completed it with no man losing and all levels played with 3 player lan coop (you cant save in a mission :s). Sometimes I seemed impossible because we were only 10 years old or so, but we did it in the end!

But man those times a commando for no reason fell through the ground into a some sort of green paradise or AI people who needed to be escorded started running into enemy lines :p

Gothic 3 even after all the fan-updates is still runs extremely poorly and is pretty buggy. It is waaay better than it was at launch though. Also Cryostasis. More performance issues than Bugs though. That game needs a true monster computer to run even on the lowest settings.

Personally? I usually dont encounter bugs, infact in never had a bug in any of the stalker games, only some crashes Same for oblivion and fallout 3. The most bugs i have ever seen have to be the ai bugs in crysis.

With the exception of Oblivion, Fallout 3, Sacred 2, and Crysis I havn't played any of the other games mentioned up to this point in the thread. Of the games I have played only Crysis gave me any problems and they were game breaking. Wouldn't alow me to finish the graveyard even though I'd killed all the invisable soldiers. It also had bad graphical problems like wheels not showing on the back of vehicals. So that would be my vote. I usually research games to see which are the bugfests and either wait for a patch or simply not buy them. But Crysis got me, guess I got hung up on the hype and had to see what all the buzz was about. What a moron.:?

None really, just a couple of crashes in both Stalker SOC and Witcher EE but not anymore!

I really don't run into bugs a lot but my friend did have trouble with the carrier level in Crysis.

STALKER Clear Sky has several gamebreaking glitches unpatched. And even when patched, it's still recommendable to use separate saves for every area you enter.

The aircraft carrier level in Crysis is unplayable on DX10. I had to run the game in DX9 to be able to finish it.

Previous generation GTA games have some horrible AI glitches, but sometimes it's hard to draw the line between incidental bugs and consistently bad programming.

The game I experienced most bugs was with KOTOR. I loved the game but even with the patch it crashed randomly during fights, talking to NPCs or opening boxes. I had to press quick save literally before and after every encounter.

I would say unpatched Gothic 3 or VTMB. VTMB I couldn't even finish one of the main story missions without using console commands. Gothic 3 I think just crashed a lot without patches.

Out of the games I played or tried it has to be

Gothic 3 version 1.0.

Empire: Total War 1.0

Starwovles 2, that was bad. The game would crash every 30 mins.

The biggest bugfest had to be

Starship Troopers (2005), bugfest in 2 ways. Many bugs to kill and many bugs that don't let you kill. Coundn't even finish the first level because it always crashed. With newer drivers managed to get 10 miters further but thats about it.

KOTOR.It gave me more BSOD than most games, didn't work with my desired resolution, weird frame rates, and now won't work with my new PC. Also, I remember walls disappearing in the game, and at one point ruining the surprise that the there was a boss on the other side. With that said, the game was still awesome and was worth putting up with the bugs.

HAWX. Broken in game cut-scene and triggers. At one point, I was already shot down but I crossed the destination point. The game then proceeded with the cut scene. After the in-game cutscene, the jet was fully repaired and it proceeded along with the next objective. At another time, it autosaved even though I was shot down. So when I reloaded, I basically just watched my jet exploding over and over.

Frontlines: Fuel of War. I don't know if it's a bug or if it was intentional: apparently, a small bunker can hold an infinite amount of soldiers. I watched some bunker churn out baddies to no end but - I'd just kill them for fun. I guess it makes sense; the game wasn't about just camping out in one place and sniping from afar - but moving the 'frontline' along. Too bad after five or so the bodies would disappear, or else I would have made a nice big pile of dead soldier.

Definitely Boiling Point, I saw the title of the thread and it immediately sprang to mind. A shame too, it had such a great idea and potential.

I played a Braveheart RTS/TBS hybrid game. Crash to desktop within 30 minutes (many times earlier) with no error message and no patches/support from the developers. It also had various ingame bugs and no real tutorial to figure out what was going on in the game. My computer met the recommended specs almost exactly. Same operating system, RAM, video card, etc and it still had all these problems. But it got for $5 at someone's garage sale, so I didn't lose too much money. I guess now I know why they were selling it.

the first year of any bethesda game, pretty much. fallout and oblivion were the only games i recall repeatedly freezing on me. ooh, and biggest_loser is right about crysis at the end. constantly falling through the floor was a huge pain. what a joke that bug was.
