@dxmcat: That's a lot of RAM. I am still rocking 16GB.
So the 3080 is basically a 2080TI with better ram loadout and RTX.
https://www.tomshardware.com/news/geforce-rtx-3090-rtx-3080-rtx-3070-specifications-leaked
That sounds about right, IMO
Damn. 350W and 320W for 3090 and 3080.
While the number of cuda cores could end up the same on 2080Ti and 3080 I hope 3080 will beat 2080Ti.
I wanna wait first to see what AMD will offer, I wanna build a new PC.
looking into specs which were leaked can't decide wether its a big leap or not.
Well with DLSS2.0, the next gen cars should have a longer life than previous gens so I can justify spending a little more. Dunno if I will go all out on a 3090 though, will wait to see what AMD have to offer.
nop.e if the price is near what it is. nope and i also never buy first year of tech ether
When it comes to GPU it is usually best to buy them as close to release as possible...
oh hell no. i learn years ago not to do that. wait 1 year and you have multi skus for it.
also price tends to drop to.

The price remains pretty stable here, hell might even increase.
Finally, some price cuts. Since there won't be this bullshit with "standard" and "founder's edition" at different prices, that means that both the 3070 and 3080 are launching at $100 lower than the 2000 series.
3090 is the new Titan, so that's a $1000 price cut.
Now to wait for proper benchmarks and then RDNA2 just to see if AMD will be able to force nvidia to reduce their prices even more.
The disappointing thing is that 3070 should have been at least a 10GB card and the 3080 12GB.
Aiming high for 3090..........wheres my second stimulus check? :D
That's what we're waiting on. I'll use it for the 3070 & Ryzen 40XX series. I need my free money now Congress.
@davillain-: I will go for the 3080 I think. Just waiting for local price
The 3080 is a great choice for ultrawide monitors. 3080 for only $699 isn't so shabby to say the least.
Maybe. But that means I have to upgrade my Intel 4770k CPU which in turn I would have to upgrade both RAM & Mobo.
I would wait until after founders edition.

No need to upgrade, but you will probably be CPU limit by 3070 and above in many games.
I might go with a pre-built system this time around. I'm old, lazy, and can afford it. I can't be bothered to futz with connectors and BIOS anymore. House, job, kids, and wife is plenty to manage.
Everyone: then just buy a console, you looser [sic]! And kill yourself.
Me: Yeah!
I want the 3090, but that is way too much money. I was already pissed that I had to pay so much for the 2080 Ti. So, I am getting the 3080.
I think the 3080 is more suited for you personally giving the fact 3070 is now stronger than 2080Ti which says alot for 3080 being double the power. 3090 is really a Titan but at the same thing, it can run games in 8K not like you really need it for 8K but rather you'll be able to play all games in 4K with ease, even 4K/144Hz.
If I do end up getting another Stimulus Check from the Gov, I'll just use it to get the 3080 myself...but it looks like I'll settle for 3070.
dont need to upgraded. if i had to.. i have to adde don on top of card cost 300 bucks for ups . due to power draw
The nice thing about the 3080 is it even future proofs high quality VR for years to come which is great.
The founders 3080 has me... I don't like the aftermarket card designs, they just look like generic 3 fan cards. That founders 3080 has ALL of my attention, the 3090 is just not worth it.
I can't wait, I will be pre-ordering it as soon as its possible from Nvidia directly.

A waterblock to the founder ed would be nice. But if only Nvidia is the seller of that edition here... Hell no. Not buying it.
@horgen: I think it might be... Can't find it at any site. If I had to get a non founders edition I am leaning towards the Asus TUF.... But I looked at my bank account and that 3090 TUF can be mine so now I am stuck weather or not I want the absolute best or not.
God damn!
Only issue is if Nvidia Release a 3080 Super with a 3090 chip but half the VRAM at at £849-899... That would eat me up inside.
I think I will just get the founders, I need that cooler.
Whats wrong with buying from Nvidia?

I think they use Digital River or something as a seller here. When 2080Ti was released, a forum user on a board I frequent (not GS) bought from them, got a laser printer instead. He got his money back from the credit company, so it was no loss for him, except getting a card maybe 3 months later than planned.
The whole case, he posted updates when he had some, was shit from beginning to end. Only getting standard replies, when finally getting a deal about shipping the printer back, the company never collected it, ending in him receive it again, with an additional shipping fee on top of it.
I think it took 8 months then he gave up. He got tired of their bot like replies. Never rude, but nothing ever happened.
@horgen: That sounds horrible but at the same time I know from experience working for a hardware retailer that is experience that less than 1% of people who buy things will experience.
Things happen.... I use Amazon all the time and once got a text saying items delivered while I was sitting in my living room drinking a coffee. Found out after 2 phone calls and a day later they delivered in to 64 rather than my house number 54... Walked up the road and asked for my butt plug, washed it off and continued with my day.
I will take the chance, I need the Founders edition the more I look at these after market cards the less I want them and they cost more to boot.

I am putting a waterblock on it, couldn't care less about how the cooler looks.
Listed price on cards here vary greatly. The Zotac Trinity has same price as founder ed, and that is the cheapest one. Some of the other ones have 250$ on top of that price. Might go for that card, or Asus TUF gaming. "only" 110$ extra.
Yeah things happens. That's when customer service is supposed to shine. CS in this case continued to mess it up. A seller that doesn't care about its customer won't receive a dime from me.

Nvidia stated they aren't taking pre-orders at this time, they have limited stock this time around and the only way to get yourself that 3080 is to be notify by Nvidia through your E-mail. For me, I'll be camping over at Micro Center so I can get that 3070 day one.
I plan on getting a RTX 3070 but I'm very tempted to get an RTX 3080 but I find it too expensive at the same time. I wanna play games maxed at out 4k 60 but they're making it seem like the RTX 3070 won't be able to do that. Everyone seems to be saying that the 3070 is a 1440p 144hz card. I don't mind playing at 1440p in multiplayer since my TV has 120hz at 1440p but I want to experience high end single player games at 4k. I assume that nearly every game supporting ray tracing will also support DLSS so I may not have to worry about it. I know the RTX 3080 can play games well over 60fps at 4K maxed out but I don't have a 4k@120hz screen at the moment to take advantage of it. But that raw power can come in handy for playing future games that are more demanding than current ones. Hmm should I just pay the extra $200 or settle on 4k 60 maxed out in some games and 1440p for most.
EDIT: I wouldn't mind at all playing 70% scaled of 4K but I worry not every game that would struggle to run at 4k 60 maxed out on the RTX 3070 will give me that option

I'll be hitting refresh button on the online stores at 3pm local time on September 17. :P

Same here... if i cant get one its Asus TUF for me.
@davillain-: Has Microcenter confirmed they'll be getting the cards on release day? If so I think I'll go to one nearby where I live to buy an RTX 3070 or 3080.

I usually hang out over at Micro Center's forums and I stumble across this page regarding cards on release day I think you may find interesting, One of the admits answer the question.
