"of all time" --- Ok. Just making sure I read the title right this time. Anyway, I think the wheel would have been more influential.

Well, I don't knowe much about electricity, so whatever is used to harness it (similar to an x-ray machine for our example). Would it be transistors or something?

I would go with dynamite. It was pretty much essential in the large scale mining for the ores that make up most industrial revolution era inventions. Without it, the metal for the X-Ray machines would still be stuck in the ground.

Processing nutrients was a way more important invention than language.

ROFL that is one bad list there. X-Rays ... seriously?? The invention of the wheel, hammer, language, electricity (though technically a discovery), telescope, compass, money (or more accurately the idea of something being used for exchange of goods and services) and the internet were all more important to the development of human civilisation than the invention (technically discovery) of x-rays ...

The Science Museum of London, in England, asked visitors to vote on which modern invention or discovery has made the greatest impact. On November 4, the museum released the results. Out of 48,152 votes, the X-ray machine is tops. Here are the biggest vote-getters. 1. X-ray machine 9,581 votes 2. Penicillin 6,825 votes 3. Structure of DNA (the chemical that carries the code for every living thing) 6,725 votes 4. Apollo 10 capsule 4,649 votes 5. V2 rocket engine 3,985 votes ... this is pathetic. How can every 1 in 5 visitors they ask answer the x-ray machine. There were much, much more important discoveries and inventions than a damn x-ray machine :?.

Surely the entire concept of Medicine is a more important invention, considering that before it developed, people rarely lived beyond the age of about 30. And it would encompass things like penicillin, X-Rays and MRI scanners, which were all invented as part of the furthering of the medical discipline...

I would have said either the computer, which has revolutionized the way humans interact with each other and society, or the vaccine, which has been the most effective medical advancement in history, save millions of lives and (almost) eliminated diseases such as small pox. Seriously, the X-ray? It's a useful invention yes, but it really isn't that amazing compared to some other inventions.

Even if it was just kids, it seems like a random thing for them to vote for. I mean, why would they vote X-Ray over something they're more likely to use, like the computer? Back to the list though, that's really bad. The wheel, dynamite, writing, language, all these are more important than the X-Ray. Though, medicine in general is near the top as well.

Hmm, invention? Language covers many things - the signs you give off when you do anything is a type of language, a type of communication. When cavemen grunted, that was a language and was more them experimenting and discovering than inventing. Although other communication methods like phone and such would be quite high up there...

Well you can thank Nikola Tesla for them. He put Roentgen's name on his notes and gave them to Roentgen. He also managed to severely burn a lab assistant with X-rays. Tesla freakin' rules!
