You know my science teacher told us this once. I dunno if it's true exactly, but it's interesting if it is. If the sun exploded, we wouldn't know for 15 minutes cause thats how long light takes to get here. So it could ofe xploded 5 minutes ago and you wouldn't even know it. Morphic

Yep, hell we could be dead already and not know it.. For all we know a massive Gamma ray blast is already on its way to wipe us out.. We won't know till it hits, this ray burst could have been traveling for thousands of years. Or a blazar's beam clips our galaxy near our solar system..

False dilemma...the sun isn't big enough to have a supernova. IF it could and did happen, the solar system would not survive.

Not unless we developed a form of Space travel before then. Earth would be as barren as the moon in a matter of hours.

Absolutely false, there would be no moon, or planet left.. There would be nothing left but space dust and a white dwarf. And yes our sun could go super nova.. If some how another sun clipped and was in orbit where the white dwarf was feeding from it.

If the Sun did supernova (which it would not seeing as how it is not massive enough) then the entire solar system would be destroyed completely... leaving nothing but a cloud of formative elements.

In 5 billion years, the sun is expected to expand to the Earth's orbit and then just die and form a planetary nebula... thus absorbing Mercury, Venus and Earth in the process.

there wouldn't be an earth left, most likely.
