This is off-topic, but I was curious. Do they still have cooks in the Army? We closed the field around 2000 or 2001. Now we have civilians contracted by the government.

They already do that. The only jobs closed to them are heavy armor and Infantry. I think Artilary too.

Yes, it was. Also, they were always the least "presentable" Marines. Pretty much all of the Woman that enlist with the ground pounding crews are fairly butchy or Tomboyish. They aren't very dainty nor lady like. They are fairly tough. They pull their own weight. They bring a bit of their own shock & awe to the fight and don't know what it means to be shell-shocked.
Draft? No, because most woman just can't handle it. They are more of a compromise than a help. So let them choose. Don't force them into the infantry. Woman are more passive a fragile by nature, plus they aren't raised to kick ass and take names. Men are. You can force it upon a men because it's our natural born job and duty to be tough. We were raised that way. From 8-15 it's Boot Camp for us. Since we were children we were raised to be the fighter the guardian, the hunter and the tactician.
If a woman wants to be the infantry and she can handle her shoulder weapon or what ever primary weapon she deploys she is welcome to be there if she can handle the stress and carry her own weight.
If it hurts your ego or makes you feel like less of man.. I don't what to tell you.
one of my friends joined the marines and his instructor said something to the effect that women aren't drafted because the guys would go out of their way to protect them in combat.Teh_Law
That's what I was thinking, but as I said.. if she can carry her own weight I don't have a problem with that. Now if they put some dainty woman out there you know that would become a distraction, because that would be like putting a child out there.
I don't care for the Marine corps. The marine corps just pisses me off, livid. With it's hillbilly hardass infamy and half-assed excuses. I bet the real reason is.. the navy admiral wants his marine corps as gay as the rest of the navy. :P

I'd assume that the :P is a meaning of a joke... but there are never jokes on the OT.

They have prostitutes in the army? Sign me up.Women have one of the most deadliest combat moves - the kick to the balls - so yes, they would play a vital part in any military.
