I have been a Roman Catholic my whole life and I'm the kind where it plays a big part in my life; going to Church every Sunday, doing 24 hours fasts, etc. Though, I think the Catholic Church is wrong to push abortion to be made illegal and same with gay marriage. The Catholic Church should not try to put their beliefs into laws because this is the USA and everybody should be allowed to do what they want, it doesn't matter if they don't face judgement for it while they're living because they will face it when they die and that's what counts. The Church obviously doesn't like it when the government tells it what to do, so its hyporcitical to try to do vice versa. Gay marriage should also be left up to the states to decide (I think all social issues including abortion should be left to the state governments, but that's another topic) and since the Church doesn't approve of it they should just not do marriages for same-sex couples in the Church and leave them to do what they want. The Church seems to think that if something is legalized you have to do it which you don't if it goes against your beliefs or morals.

Can I just ask why you call yourself Catholic rather than, say, protestant?

Well, I don't think it is morally right to have an abortion and neither should anyone in the Catholic Church. I'm saying that the Church should stop pressing moral issues because its hypocritical to do that when they dislike the government pressing them.

No, you don't.

What do you mean I don't? MOST social issues should be left to the state governments, maybe with the government setting a minnimum if needed like with minnimum wages.

I'm not getting into the entire abortion debate but I will say that government in the US is supposed to be for the people, by the people yadda yadda yadda so it bothers me when you say people shouldn't have the right to tell the government what they think.

It was a small footnote in the paragraph. Sorry, I didn't explain my views on it thoroughly.

They should be able to, that is a huge thing that is needed for the USA but I am talking about the Catholic Church and how they try to push controversial issues which would be better just left alone and giving people choice.

I'm expressing my views on the subject, the Church can do whatever they want but I am expressing my views. You see people complaining about the government all the time so would your response be, "get a better government".

So because they belong to a church their ideas should automatically be discarded? That isn't very democratic of you. How do people get a choice? Ending slavery was controversial. Civil Rights were controversial. Should they have been left alone

Can I ask you something? I don't mean to offend you or start an argument here, but why would an all-loving God make someone burn for eternity for being gay other than "marriage should be between a man and a woman"
