Exactly. This is why instead of nuclear weapons we need a 1337 army of Macbook hackers.

its like this: to get technological breakthroughs, you need to be a curious and exploring race. you cant get it by destroying everything you come by. an advanced alien race, so advanced to travel billions of lightyears, would NOT travel here to destroy us. maybe, after learning how dangerous we are over time, they would, but they would research us on a WAY more extensive level than just observation before they destroy us. if they dont, they wont have the curious aproach on things to be able to get that technology, and wont be able to reach us.
