Before I begin, let me just say that I don't mean every woman I just mean a large enough portion of women that it some form of generalization is applicable. Ok anyway, why is it that women cry when they get scolded. I remember in high school when the teacher yelled at some girl, she would start crying. Same thing happens in work situations with women, so its not an age thing. The funny thing is if 3 girls get berated, they leave angry; If one girl gets berated, she leaves crying. So what's the deal? Its not like women are emotionally weaker than men or anything. Is it self-pity? If so thats dispicable. Self-pity is one of the worst human trait. Or maybe they are embarrassed and they hope that by crying people will feel sorry for them, rather than mock them? If so, thats a bit more clever but still.... Why do you think?

Perhaps we should ask a woman, not GameSpot.

Why do girls/women cry when they get berated? Perhaps it is because they are so happy to see how cute they look in one of them french beanies.

Could be true. So is that to say that most guys are insensitive or is it a cultural thing that we don't cry?

I wouldn't cry if someone yelled at me. Why should I? Why would I let someone trample over me like that?

I think it's just different ways male and female express their feeling and coping with stress. men punch walls or slam doors, and women hide in the bathroom and cry, different action but same motivation: to release stress and pressure. IMHO, women's way is a lot less destructive, LOL.

We tend to be more unsensitive and is culture thing too, since we are raised.

because women's (most of them) whole purpose is to pro create, whether feminists, or such, disagree with that, by getting berated on looks or performance means she is not fit for natural selection and thus it is appropriate to be depressed hittin
I don't think this may be the case.

I cry because it's my nervous reaction, not because I want sympathy or anything. It's not fun having your face go all red, your eyes puff up and your makeup smeared all over. I'm sure some people cry for attention, but you can usually tell attention-cryers from emotion-cryers because attention cryers tend to put on a show and wail and stuff.

Because our culture (assuming "western" culture, here) encourages the behavior through both positive and negative reinforcements. Men generally do not behave this way because the same culture uses the antithesis positive and negative reinforcements to condition them out of the behavior. Today's lesson: Be mean to girls (but don't beat them). :D

Umm I suppose there is a number of potential reasons to explain this phenomenon. -The girl may be embarrassed -The girl may think that crying will get her out of trouble and gain sympathy -The girl may feel guilt depending upon what it is she did -The girl may feel badly about herself etc.

Of course women are emotionally weaker than women. Or maybe not, they just show their emotions more. It's unmanly for men to show emotions, that's why we don't do it.

Well you can answer that generalization with another generalization: women tend to be more sensitive. It's not that complex.

Correct. That is one valid constraint of such a theory, and the model necessary to express it. Besides, wether quantitative or qualitative, serious analysis doesn't have the luxury of attempting to be non-conformist for the sake of being so.

*nod* I empathize. I don't consider it effeminate to move gracefully or be a good cook or keep a clean home, etc. I only meant to point out that public opinion is a theoretical model which exists fully aside from our individual opinions, and from that follows that there is in fact a cultural public understanding of effeminacy which includes, "being a cry-baby".

Because they aren't trained to ignore and suppress their emotions. Men would cry if also if they felt free to express these emotions and did not have to feel like they would be made fun of for it.

Probably no one right answer to this question. I can think of at least 2 reasons off the top of my head. 1. Because they are generally upset in the heat of the moment and are overwhelmed, and 2. To invoke a feeling of sympathy in the party that is doing the yelling (example: get out of a speeding ticket) :P

Men dont cry as often, because its just natural social evolution of men living under the crushing system of patriarchy. Remember, patriarchies number one victim has always been men. Men are needed to do all the dangerous things and punishing tasks throughout history, so a psychological system has to be made to condition them for those brutal tasks
