Tim Burton all the way for me.
Just his style, his direction, his comedic goth style... it's so interesting and unique for me. I can't wait until Alice in Wonderland.

None, screenplay writers matter way more than directors but are paid way less for some reason.soulsofblayckBecause the director is the most crucial part of how a film gets put together. The movie is the vision of the director... all things equal with screenplay writers, the same two scripts and stories would be rendered worlds different with two different directors.

Um, if a screenplay is crap then the movie can not be saved and yet, the screenplay writer ends up getting paid a substantially smaller amount than actors and the director.

He gets royalty rights you don't know aboutit's very hard to say.....most well known directors have impressed and disappointed me some point in their career. i like them for their greatness, but sometimes their failure just couldn't go unnoticed.
if i had to choose, tho, i would pick someone whose port-folio includes a large variety of genreswith occasional fantastic performances and productions of above average quality in between. Ridley Scott would be it. James Cameron came close, but his port-folio is too short and his attention too scattered....
